Guide To Install Yosemite on HP Laptops with Clover UEFI

RehabMan, not sure why removing BTFirwareUploader.kext, repairing permissions and rebuilding the cache did not help the first time, but now the laptop has been waking up without crashes for several day, just like it used to work with Mavericks. Much happier now.

Thank you, for all you do.

Switch 2a and 2b

You're using the wrong USB port.

I managed to migrate 10.9 from Chameleon to Clover then upgrading to 10.10 via Appstore successfully. I think it is a less tricky solution than using Clover boot USB to install 10.10.
Anyway, thanks for suggestion.

I think you might want to simply read the very start of this thread and follow the guide.

Hi guys, I have a HP Probook 650 G1 with Intel i5 4200M, 1920x1080 display and AMD HD 8750M currently running on Win8. I'd like to create a dual-boot clean install with Yosemite + Win8 but I'm not sure if my laptop is supported or not... Post #1 says the guide is for 4x0 G1 (which is very similar to mine as far I know), but it also says laptops with AMD graphic cards are not supported (I know well the AMD card won't work in OS X which is fine).

I've already and successfully made a dual-boot Yosemite + Win8 on a Probook 4540s thanks to your guides so I'm confident enough to work on the G1, if possible. Thank in advance :)

Hi guys, I have a Proobook 650 G1

Is it 8-series/Haswell or 7-series/Ivy?

I assume 8-series/Haswell...

Please provide complete details in your profile/signature
(Profile/Settings link in upper right corner of this site)

System: manufacturer/model + bootloader(Clover/Chameleon/Chimera)
CPU: detailed CPU model + motherboard chipset
Graphics: all graphics devices + laptop internal screen resolution

For example, typical Ivy laptop:
System: HP ProBook 4540s (Clover)
CPU: i5-3320m/HM76
Graphics: HD4000, 1366x768

Use CPU-Z on Windows to find CPU (Core iX-xxx) and motherboard chipset (HMxx), and graphics capabilities. For a laptop, these details are important and affect critical installation procedures.

Thanks RehabMan and sorry for my incomplete post, it went published before I finished writing it...

Is it just Radeon or Radeon+Intel (switched dual-GPU)?

GPU-Z shows 2 entries: Intel HD Graphics 4600 and AMD Radeon HD 8750M, so I guess it's switched dual-GPU.

Yes, switched... so the Radeon is irrelevant, except for hopefully the DSDT/SSDT patcher in PBI will disable it.

You should probably just try the 4x0 G2 option and see what happens. It may not work, in which case, you'll have some investigation to do...
