(BUT the CPU Cores spiked to 175-190 F during the test and when back down to around 93F so I removed and unless you specifically know that you will use CUDA, dont install it... a pain to remove)

This is my install struggle with this rig:

[UPDATE1]: removed video card(enabled the onboard video), a IEEE CARD, and the extra memory (booting with 8GB stick) still failed! Had to boot with
"-x
GraphicsEnabler=No, PCIRootUID=1,maxmem=4096" and then the install started!

[UPDATE2]: now it hangs at startup and only comes up in safe mode! IF you have the same board... can you tell me if these settings work for you (I had similar setup in Mavericks) :beachball::beachball::beachball:

[UPDATE 3] so, after much fuzz I got Yosemite installed. Reconnected video card & plugged all memory's. Having issues with the mouse I had to go back to the USB.... I try booting back with GraphicsEnabler & PPCIRoot (above)... Turns out I was getting the same panic. Once I boot with "maxmem=4096" the installation started fine and on my 760 card!!

Started having a "Essentials.pkg" Error at about the 13 minute mark during the install...

Came back to this AWESOME site and found this thread:
Anybody with the "Essentials.pkg" Error

After many, many, many tries and combinations... booted with -x -no-zp and now it's all up and running... :headbang::headbang::headbang::headbang::headbang::headbang::headbang::headbang::headbang::headbang:

Just working on no sound now... UGHHHH

Changed my multlibeast settings a bit to use the intel network card...

[UPDATE 4]
Had several issue in the past 2 days... keyboard and mouse not working after the install & aGeForceSensors (pci1): started, then followed by "still waiting for root device".
both of them were due to extra kext
loaded... had to manually uninstall them. found the best solution is
boot with -x , use the setting below and everything works.. INCLUDING the sound card (mine is connected to the optical port)... Kext Dev Mode was installed for the sound card issue ... I read on a thread here!!
:shh:

SCORE!!!

This is has been the most issue prone install I've had on this board... but I have to say that Yomesite is very resilient and boots up regardless... (doesn't trap as often during the install and post install process)
PS: FaceTime and iMessage are still not working but that's expected...

[UPDATE 6]
tried to install CLOVER. To solve the FaceTime / iMessage... => EPIC ANNOYANCE

cant get it to boot the partition and there's no one willing to help (point me to the guide that got me to that point is not helping in my book!)
Can't even boot with my unibeast USB so have to install Yosemite on a new drive and face ALL these issues again !! Why you ask? IDFK... Can't install it with the same install and switches above ... Again major annoyance !!! Ughhhhh.:thumbdown::thumbdown::thumbdown::sick::sick::sick::sick:

[UPDATE 7] (hopefully the LAST one :crazy::crazy::crazy:).... What a major pain in the rear end... WOW .....

So no matter what I did, the Graphics card is not a go with Yosemite install !
Unplugged it and booted with -x -no-zp installation worked ok (between freezes and delays installing)

used Multibeast 7.01 and got it booting up .. sound, networking and graphics card with multiple monitors are a go!! :)

I know this is a lot of trial and error but hopefully someone will read it and appreciate the info!!!
Good luck!

[UPDATE 8]
This is the current settings I have ... due to some issue on the GPUSensor, I removed the plugins and changed the System Definitions!

Thanks for posting this... All went well through the installation? Anything special needed in BIOS? I was considering either the Z97X-UD5H-BK or this motherboard for the thunderbolt ports. CPU and GFX Card is going to be the exact same...

Did everything set right up or did you have a few hurdles to jump over?

I just posted my install struggle... (I needed to find it because something went wrong while updating multibeast 7.1.1 and I have to re-install the damn thing again... uggh!!

in essence, on my board: strip everything out of it, install the OS with restriction flags and add stuff back.

To be honest, I dont have thunderbolt and I tried getting it to work but wasn't successful so I jsut ignore it now!!

Wow that's crazy. Glad you got it 99% of the way though. I thought the difference between the UD5 and UD7 was just the thunderbolt port. Evidently there's more. I did read that the thunderbolt ports on the UD7 motherboard did have issues and wasn't consistent. I'm going to stick with the UD5 on my install. I've seen people have a bit more success with it. But nonetheless you got it working pretty good!

I see you went from the latest multibeast to an order version.... That seemed to have worked out. Makes me want to keep both handy for my setup...

Hope it will work for you!! The thing about these hacks is how hard it is to find help because of the specificity of the each box and individual situation... (One of the reasons that Apple has so much control on the hardware). Anyway, best of luck to you !!

BTW: the images were from an older version of the Multibeast but I have to update those... (after I get my box all working again)

A BIG BIG Thanks for the information.
I had the same board was thinking of giving up when I found your post.
Will give it another go tonight.
Again thanks.

Really?
http://www.tonymacx86.com/yosemite-desktop-guides/144426-how-install-os-x-yosemite-using-clover.html

Pretty damn straight forward and simple. First try and I was up and running on the Gigabyte GA-Z97X-UD7 TH board.

Only thing that's bothering me is optical (s/pdif) out on the board is not working. Tried both Toleda's patch and the realtek 1150 package from inside the multibeast installer, both work for analog audio, but not digital.

I had many trial and error headaches too. I just updated my BIOS after 5 days of frustration. Everything, including audio works fine now.

How do you do with TOLEDA pach. I dont understand what he does in those multi linea of scripts.

Can you tell me please?

Which versions you transitioned from/to?

I'm stuck here
