Is it possible that the card can detect the cable that I have and the cable is not capable? I assumed it would just try but fail or have artefacts. I can use the same cable with my MacBook Pro (late 2013) at 4K/30p.

You need a high speed HDMI to get full 4K video at 60Hz. The 1.4a spec cable will not work - 1080p is all it is capable of transmitting

Thanks for that. I've ordered a new cable on Amazon for delivery tomorrow, so I'll update then. Just odd that the same cables will allow 4k/30p (4:2:0) on my MBP, but I don't even get that option on the GTX970. It might be that the GTX970 isn't capable of negotiating 4:2:0 and hence defaults to 1080/60p 4:4:4. At least I'll have the cable ruled in or out by tomorrow :).

I have tested the .02 driver for 10.10.1. for a few weeks now. (GTX 970)

I can't say I'm 100% happy, I still get an occasional KP and a message there is problem with my graphic display. After Effects doesn't recognize the card and I can't get CUDA to work. OSX does recognize the card and the 4Gb of memory and generally performance is great. I use two displays, a 27'' Dell ultrasharp using the display port and a 22'' EISO color edge using DVI connection.

Are there any others that have the same experience? Anybody that got CUDA to work and get things very stable?

Thanks for the reply!

Aris

I've got everything working on my 980 GTX, including CUDA on OS X 10.10.0.

So, is it safe to upgrade to 10.10.1? It seems like people have issues with it, including CUDA not working? Can anyone clarify this?

Thanks.

New cable arrived this morning. No dice, still only able to select 1080p over HDMI. I'm using 'Display Menu' from the App Store and that doesn't give me any extra resolutions either.

Any ideas?

I've got CUDA working in 10.10.1. Cuda-Z picks it up, although Cuda Pref Panel shows an update is required. It still works though, and I'm able to get Adobe CC/PP to use CUDA in unsupported GPU mode (expected).

OK, you have CUDA working. So have I, the preference pane + the update notification. But are you sure applications are using it? For example, I can't get After Effects CC (full updated) to recognize the card and use CUDA (cores) on it.

This is what AE CC 2014 sees in attachment.

I'm having the same experience.

I have a GTX 980 with the latest nVidia and CUDA drivers.

CUDA is not working overall. I got it to show up in Premiere and AE. In AE though it errors when I try to use it.

Does not work with Octane render.

Cinebench tests do not show any GPU enchancement.

Cuda-Z reports no Cuda recognized.

If I boot up my Windows drive the GPU Cinebench tests fly to almost twice as fast.

I've been having trouble finding any answers as well. Please let me know if anyone figures out a solution.

What did you have to do to get Cuda-Z to recognize it? Is there a specific kext that needs to be installed?
