[Guide] Booting the OS X installer on LAPTOPS with Clover

[GUIDE] Booting the OS X installer on LAPTOPS with Clover UEFI

Multi-boot with UEFI is simple enough that it probably doesn't require a guide. There are no nasty boot records to deal with since everything is on EFI partition(s) in normal directories/files.

Does this mean that I can install Yosemite on an empty partition of an HDD with Win8.1 already installed?

You can (assuming Win8.1 is installed UEFI). But there are few gotchas...

OS X is not well behaved with disks partitioned by other than OS X Disk Utility, but there are things you can check/do.

[GUIDE] Booting the OS X installer on LAPTOPS with Clover UEFI

Hi Rehabman,

I hopefully found your topic regarding Yosemite OSX install on UEFI Motherboard and I was wondering if you could give me some help as I get stuck after booting Clover.

More details about my problem :

Specs:
- I have a Acer Aspire Swtich 10 Ultrabook, a hybrid ultrabook
- The processor is an Intel Atom Z3735F
- The motherboard is a UEFI Fendi2 (Intel Bay Trail Bridge 0F)
- Intel Graphics HD.

I am able to boot using Clover EFI, but I am then unable to boot the OSX Install or even seeing the USB Key in the menu.

What I tried :
- Partitioning the USB Key in GPT and MBR on a HFSJ systemfile
- Installing OSX on the same key using createinstallmedia and Unibeast
- Formatting the EFI partition in FAT32 before installing Clover (and adding the Kexts, config.plist and HFSPlus.efi)
- Installing a fresh untouched OSX Install on another GUID then MBR key.

After all these attemps, I have never been able to see the OSX install, do you have any advice please ?

What I have right now for testing :
- A USB Key with Clover and OSX installed (I followed your topic)
- Another one only with a fresh OSX Install (tried to plug when Clover's menu on)
- Any information that could be useful to solve my problem, if solvable

Thanks for your help,
Thomas.

All laptops I've seen can turn off secure boot.

I found a way can turn off the secure boot, but it boot into my original windows 8.1 directly.
I try to setup Clover without UEFI mode, but it show a black screen when I boot into the installed Yosemite with Clover.

You need to use your BIOS hotkey to select the USB specifically.

Please fill out your profile per post #1.

You cannot boot from your HDD unless you install Clover to it. If you already have Windows booting UEFI, you may need to rename /EFI/Microsoft/Boot/bootmgfw.efi to bootmgfw-orig.efi.

@rehabman
your mavericks install partition cli rename instructions are borked. They ref Yosemite NOT Mavericks, some users will overlook that(and yes I'm editing how I wrote this response).

[EDIT]
Still having my own problems, but the above refers to the createinstallmedia section wrt Mavericks. The part rename refers to Yosemite when it should refer to Mavericks.
