Could You please tell me which values from clover configurator are safe to use as unique? ...... do I have to change Board number, ROM and MLB as well? If yes, how can I do that ?

@Majkwin,

You can use the magic wand but always be sure to use the two 'shake' buttons to make the OSX S/N different from the default .... but only if its a new build/config. If you already have have unique - non registered S/N stick with it as long as the prefix and suffix are correct for system type your using - (see updated Step 3 in Part 1 of the guide)

Always use uuidgen to generate new SmUUID value and use MAC address of a ethernet port for ROM value. For simplicity the value of MLB can be your OSX S/N + 5 Random Alpha numeric characters.

Everything to do with ROM & MLB is explained in detail in Part-1, Step 5d of the guide.

Cheers
Jay

Same Problem here.. I've got the error message "Could not sign in to iMessage. An error occurred during activation. Try again" I Upgraded from Mavericks (Imassage was work ) to Yosemite with Unibeast then installed clover. . I followed guide as your mentioned.

Hey, was having the same issue as I overlooked what was actually in the guide and resolved my issue:

"MLB: This is now read from the 'Board Serial Number' field on the SMBIOS page, on a clean Clover install this is defaulted to Clovers own set value which is now black-listed on Apples systems. You therefore must replace this with your existing MLB value (on an existing install) or use your OSX S/N + Random Alpha / Numeric digits to make it up to 17 digits."

I recreated the MLB as explained above (OSX serial + alphanumeric sequence to go up to 17 digits) and it solved my issue.

Bit of progress and may be of help to others in the same situation.

Followed the instructions here and it's now changed to the error saying contact support.

They are shut now, but I will try tomorrow.

Just an update that I called Apple and they sorted it. It now works!

Sounded very similar to a few other people who called. They asked for the serial once at the beginning and I gave them my MBP one. He asked me to read the message in full, said he had seen it once before, but me on hold for 2 minutes and it was working when he came back. Whole thing took 10 minutes and he was very well mannered.

Jay,
will thevalue i find be relevant as I formatted between installs?
If not, what do I do? Shall I install via Clover as new and cross fingers with support?
Can I still use MLB and ROM I have? I've read that the ones generated by Clover are blacklisted. If I need new ones, how do I get them? Thanks:)

Can someone provide me with a bit of guidance? I'm lost and don't know what I have to try in order to make this imsg (and all the rest linked to it work)

I don't think I need to reinstall but...

Help :(

Can my system automatically regenerate a new MLB number without manual entering number into clover config.plist?

I don't think so, on a clean clover install, it puts the default one and it's blacklisted (from what I understand). You have to make sure you have a unique OS X serial as per the guide and then add a mix of random numbers and letters so the MLB length reaches 17 characters. You dont have to enter it in the plist manually, why not use clover configurator?

It's pretty straightforward.

On a fresh install I believe if you leave the MLB and ROM values blank in rtVariables tab of Clover Configurator your ROM and MLB values are generated from the last 12 digits of you smuuid value on the SMBIOS page and the Board Serial Number value on the SMBIOS page.

In the rtVariables tab of Clover Configurator ROM and MLB fields are blank. Should i fill them manually by hand?

As long as you properly create your required values on the SMBIOS tab, export it to the proper location on the system's EFI partition, reboot, run imessage debug. Your ROM and MLB values should now be there as being read from the previously mentioned SMBIOS fields in my earlier post. Can you try that and report back?

Read very carefully the section under "Clover Update October 2014:" In the original post/guide and follow those instructions.

I believe that's the best method going forward; also read carefully 'How to fix iMessage Part-2' and follow instructions in:

Step-7: How to Fix the SId Bug

That's what did the trick for me, called Apple, issue resolved!

Thanks for this great guide that allowed me to discover the mighty Clover, what a great bootloader! Now onto getting handoff to work...
