Gigabyte Z68MA-D2H-B3+EVGA GTX650 (working DSDT FREE)

Just did an upgrade install from Mavericks to Yosemite using Unibeast (Gigabyte Z68MA-D2H-B3 + UEFI BIOS + Core i7-2600K + Asus R9 280X) . Everything seems to be working as well as it did before.

Installed Chimera 4.0 to EFI partition and using Mac Pro 5,1 profile (removing AppleTyMCEDriver.kext) since I needed to do that before to get the R9 280X to behave and perform well although I'm not sure if those steps are still necessary in Yosemite or not.

hi Keypox,

Since I predicted that I will run into issue with upgrading my existing Maverick to Yosemite, I postponed on the upgrade. Instead I used another spare drive to install brand new Yosemite. So far, I know that there is still issue with iMessage. I tried to copy NVRAM.dylib to /Extra/Modules and of course it didn't work ( knowing that before I tried for luck). I guess I have to wait until the experts have the new fix or try out using Clover as boot loader.

Somebody on this thread mentioned that they have iMessage working OOB. Can you share your setup or any additional steps that you have to do to get it to work ? Is it upgrade from Maverick or brand new install ? is it Clover or Chimera ? And anybody has Clover for their boot loader, can you help sharing the steps to upgrade ? and which setting to set for Clover Configurator ?

Thanks a ton,

I tried both clean install and upgrade for Yosemite using unibeast/mutibeast and still have problem with iMessage. I also tried out migrating from Chimera to Clover. With Clover, I still can't logon to iMessage but got a customer code that I can call Apple to unlock. However, the display is not sharp, the mouse ran all over the place and it also picked up VGA port ( i need to enable in BIOS to get AIRPLAY) Since I don't know anything about Clover or how to customize it for my system, I switched back to Chimera. For now, I can live without iMessage but hoping, praying that someone can help update or fix NVRAM for iMessage.

I was thinking about trying this general guide. But would much prefer someone else do the leg work lol.
http://www.tonymacx86.com/yosemite-desktop-guides/144426-how-install-os-x-yosemite-using-clover.html
Guide seems straight forward, but looking through the thread there are lots of problems, not much success.

My iMessages has logged in twice, both times crashed when trying to send a message. Very weird. In Mav I had to call apple to activate it, but it was pretty painless.

Same motherboard but using internal graphics. I am able to install and boot into the installed drive to run Multibeast. After installing multibeast, I reboot and am no longer able to boot into the Yosemite drive on its own NOR with the Unibeast installer. I keep getting the same error related to AppleACPIPlatform (see attached).

Any ideas?

If you already have your system installed with Yosemite, all you need to do is install Clover bootloader into your existing OS and modify your config.plist to work properly after the installation completes. I was able switch from chimera to Clover with some issues since I have no clue on how what to input into config.plist using Clover Configurator. I did however, got imessage to come up with customer code to call Apple. I was lucky enough to have a working Maverick (same system with different drive), where I can obtain all the ROM, MLB, IOPlatformUUID, etc ..using imessage_debug. Today, I placed a call to Apple and got the block removed, so now I can access iMessage and Facetime. The only issue for me now is to get the system to work flawlessly. I'm still seeing some eratic mouse movement and lag when I type this comment.

So I'm not quite there yet, but happy that it's somewhat working system. One cool thing about this migration is I can still boot to Chimera, since I configured Clover to boot UEFI. I'm curious if I boot to Chimera and try to login to iMessage, will it still work ? Don't have a gut to try it yet , since it may create a blockage from Apple again.

hi Keypox,

Yes, I download Clover_v2k_r2953 and followed Tonymac guide for installing Clover for hard drive only since I already had Yosemite installed.

I thought I would post in this thread too - I performed an upgrade from Mavericks on my box and Yosemite will boot with Chimera 4.0 with the "-f" flag.

If I do not pass the -f flag then I will get the "Ghostbusters" icon or the message "Still Waiting for Root Device"

I do not have a BIOS option for "Enabling AHCI" only "Enable XHCI" and "Enable EHCI".

I have the U1C version of the bios - any ideas how to get past the hang without the -f flag?

Thanks,
