From what I understand <http://tinyurl.com/qcwpjny> Handoff will require Bluetooth (BT) LMP version ox6. It seems BT for Handoff works when BT is on the motherboard/logicBoard; BT from a USB dongle will not work with Handoff (until someone develops a hack).

I am seriously contemplating building a hackintosh. What hardware should I use to be ready for Handoff, when it rolls out? Are there specific motherboards that are Handoff compatible?

Thanks.

Too early to tell and I've even broken the rules by replying! :)

From the rules:

Prerelease Software or Developer Builds are covered by NDA and therefore there cannot be any discussion of features included or removed within said software. The NDA also prohibits the distribution of any component contained within these releases. There will be no discussion of installing, help with installing or documenting the use of this type of software. Repeated violations of this rule will result in a permanent ban.

Sorry I spoke too soon. I'll revisit this question after Yosemite has been released.

Can we ask this question now?

I am interested as well :D:D:D

To make handoff or continuity work you'll need Apple's special Bluetooth/WiFi adapter which has a PCI slot. Google for it and you'll find it. It costs around 30 bucks but I'm pretty sure there's a workaround using other devices.

Can you give me a link and will it work in my desktop

Is it this one I need [h=1](PRE-ORDER) APPLE BROADCOM BCM94360CD - 802.11 A/B/G/N/AC + BLUETOOTH 4.0 WITH ADAPTER FOR PC/HACKINTOSH[/h]

Yep, however it's really expansive. I would suggest to buy normal Apple's adapter (which is cheap around Ebay) and then convert the Mini-PCI-E to PCI-E using a converter.

could you possibly give me a link I am not very good at finding this stuff!!
