7990 any luck?

Did anybody try the 7990?

edit: I just tried the 7990, as soon as Chameleon comes up all text is garbled and hangs there. I guess that answers my question. :-X

I have the exact same issue as bolded part above. I have the Samsung U28D590 running OS X 10.9 with a Gigabyte R9 280X 3GB GPU. I'm not sure I have an option for 3584x2240@60Hz via DP. I made a post here with an image attached of the issue - is this the same as you have, and, did you find a resolution for it?

Yes, your photo shows the same exact issue I am having. I haven't found a resolution ... I am simply hoping that a gfx driver update in a future OSX will fix this. I would have assumed something is wrong with the monitor, but everything is fine under Windows. Since you also have a Radeon and Nvidia guys have no issues with this monitor this would support a driver issue.

BTW, I noticed when set to 3840x2160 OSX is lying about the frequency. It says 60hz but when I press the Info button on the monitor the monitor itself says 56hz. That perfectly explains the garbage at the end of the HBL ... monitor is expecting the line to end earlier.

Hey there, just wanted to reply as I wasn't sure if you saw my post towards the bottom of my thread. It seems to be related to the pixel update frequency, I've not tested to find the precise border frequency as I wouldn't know what to do with that information, but I did notice when I press the monitor info button it tells me that the monitor is also not running at precisely 60Hz. I'll boot into OS X later on tonight and record the precise frequency, but as I change values in Switch Res X, it automatically sets the update frequency, so I can't seem to lock it to precisely 60Hz. Not sure if there is a solution beyond some change to the driver itself, at the moment I am running at 3200x1800x60Hz successfully though.

Hello,

i have a little trouble with my Card.

I used to have a GeForce GTX 550ti and i had Mavericks 10.9.2 running on it.
I bought a Sapphire Radeon 7850 HD OC 2GB a couple days ago while still running 10.9.2. It worked great besides the framebuffer. So i updated to 10.9.4 and the AMD7000controller.kext isn't loading. When i click on “about this mac” i have “Monitor 7 MB” next to my card. On 10.9.2 it was named as “Radeon 7xxx”

The AMD driver in 10.10 solves this issue. Yay!

does anyone tried with ati 7670m on laptop? I cannot make it work . It shows 3mb .
