Almost Everything Working but USB 3.0 - Any Suggestions?

I deleted GenericUSBXHCI.kext and it seems that at least USB 2.0 is working: I only have one USB 3.0 device, an external HDD, and I have no idea how to test if it's in 3.0 mode, only copying huge files and looking at speeds comes to mind. But now onboard sound is acting weird: sometimes it works, sometimes I get crackling noise where low frequencies are supposed to be (higher frequencies are completely silent) - but this was a problem with Mavericks too. Also, the main issue is the constant frezing 5 minutes after booting.

Frantick,

NICE. Thanks for spelling it out for me. Haven't been in doing this very long and you definitely shaved some ramp up time off for me.

Got things working great now!

Try the below. It worked for me. My iphone5 got deteced on USB3 port.

Try this :

Remove GenericUSBXHCI.kext if you have one in /System/Library/Extensions

Copy Rehabman's GenericUSBXHCI.kext to your desktop. Download

If you don't have it already, download KextBeast from Here.
Run KextBeast.

Restart

GenericUSBXHCI is installed on my Yosemite but usb3 do not work yet ...

I downloaded a fresh copy from SourceForge but there are two files:
1)
GenericUSBXHCI.kext
2) xhcdump

What this second file means? Will I install it? I don't know ...

Another thing: if u go to About this Mac :: System Info :: Software :: Extensions
You can see what is running, and I can see that GenericUSBXHCI is there BUT without sign. So may be that the problem??

Hi brandonb21
I have just been given a Dell 9400 Laptop, as I am retired I need to keep my mind occupied and I am trying to make a Hackintosh and I see you have the same build, so I was wondering if you would be kind enough to let me have your setup guide and any kexts and DSDT you used please
I have managed to get Lion installed but with a few problems, like trackpad and keyboard not working, and other things
So any help you can give will be much appreciated.

I have the same problem using Universal USB 3.0 from Multibeast 7.0.1 on an Asus motherboard P8P67 Deluxe (haven't installed Rehabman kext)

You can also use just one USB drive, but you need to plug it on one USB port, won't detect the drive but when you unplug it and plug it to the other USB port, it will see the drive. Same goes for front and back panel.
