Gigabyte z77-ds3h Yosemite boot issues

I'm using a pass through for my front USB3 because I'm using the Corsair 600t so it comes with the pass through for the front USB3 and for iMessage there is no fix atm due to FileNVRAM not supported for Yosemite as of yet just need to wait for it to be updated soon as its updated iMessage will work :headbang:

Glad to see lots of replies! Thanks for sharing ya'll.

So to update everyone, my install is rather unreliable now in the sense that it seems to be completely random when the system decides to fully boot up. (I'm assuming its KPing when I get just a blank white screen after Apple logo?) As noted last night though I was able to get into the OS, and everything ran fine, including audio. I also noticed that ethernet seemed to be working on its own without a driver. I'm wondering if I'm running into problems somewhere because I'm choosing something wrong. I am aware that there are two different versions of this board, but I'm not sure how to tell if I have 1.0 or 1.1.

When it works... -v shows this just before loading a blank white screen. "bug in process suhelperd" it is longer than that, but when I've googled around for a solution I only find info pertaining to Clover bootloaders which I am not using. If anyone has any ideas let me know and I'll post a screen shot of the error.

Seeing as how others with this board are seeming to have good results and not having these sporadic boot issues I'm seeing I think I'll just do a fresh install and cross my fingers that it stops these shenanigans ;P

*NOTE* I've been using this machine since Mountain Lion with absolutely zero issues, including on Mavericks, so I'm positive this is something to do with Yosemite and the new Multibeast. I will check to see if booting is normal before running multibeast on the clean install, and if it is I will proceed to testing out Multibeast again and seeing if it brings back the issue.

I have a Z77-DS3H and I was somewhat successful in upgrading to 10.10. Audio took a little messing with the control panel to select "internal speakers" to get the audio to come out. Also, I have a separate network card ("Yukon Gigabit Adapter, 88E8053 Singleport") and am not using the built-in one.

Upgrade installation

Step 0: backup using time machine or super duper (or both in my case)

1. Download all necessary software (unibeast, multibeast, OSX 10.10 install)
2. Create Unibeast USB per instructions
3. Reboot and boot from USB and run unibeast install over top of OSX install
4. Reboot again from USB and boot into your upgraded OSX partition or drive.
5. Run Multibeast with appropriate settings.
6. Reboot again and you should be good.

My biggest issue was that when I tried to boot into Mavericks backup copy I got an error. Not quite sure why though.

Forgot to mention this issue as well..

I can't get Yosemite to shutdown or restart properly either, so maybe that gives someone a clue? Choosing either option exits the OS and the monitor goes black but the computers fans and LEDs are still running.... I just don't understand why I'm having so many headaches all of a sudden when this machine has worked flawlessly on all other releases.

Have been putting off the fresh install because I don't want to wait 3 more hours for it to not work again lol... (my time machine back up is rather large thats why it takes so long)

I was able to boot finally using "UseKernelCache=No" however I have a feeling this was just random or luck, will be testing this further.

Also I should note that bluetooth dongle is not working that well either. Lifting mouse causes cursor to disappear and it took multiple times of taking it out and plugging it back in before it finally connected to my magic mouse. I have had similar issues in all other releases but they were rare and didn't happen every time on start up. This error could usually be avoided by waking the computer from sleep with the mouse first and not the keyboard.

EDIT: Yet another little bug I've found. Not sure what the cause of this is but I've noticed that notification center widgets are not staying in the same order I put them in. This might just be a general bug with Yosemite however and nothing specific to hackintosh. Although I did notice that the computer loaded in dark mode initially even though I changed it back yesterday before I shutdown. I wonder if this has anything to do with improper shutdowns or using the "UseKernelCache=No" boot flag?

EDIT: I use my machine regularly for producing music and doing graphic design work so all of these little annoyances are actually a big deal, it would be one thing if I just used the thing to poke around the net but this is my everyday work horse so I need everything to be flawless. I understand the obvious risks in early adopting but I assumed that if Tonymac and the devs released the new tools that it was stable enough to use for my main machine. I was so excited to use the new OS X but now I'm thinking twice, guess I might have to be a stick in the mud for a while and just suck it up and go back to using Mavericks so I can actually get some work done.

Just to let everyone know the current ALC887/888b kexts in the newest Multibeast are not working properly for this motherboard. (just like the last few versions of it) This problem has been around for a while now where you'll lose audio on sleep, only a handful of the older kexts actually work correctly. Such a mess.

Am currently downloading a copy of Mavericks so I can get my life back in order haha! (Kind of a struggle cause you can't just go back and get the app store copy of Mavericks anymore.. without going some place else for it) This is all much too experimental for someone like me who needs the machine to work flawlessly everyday. Loved the look and feel of Yosemite but alas I'll have to wait for someone else to have figured out how to get it to run properly on my equipment. Good luck to all of you and to those who have Yosemite running on this motherboard with no problems I am green with envy! Hopefully you do not experience any major issues like I have.

EDIT:

I have an idea, that I wish I would have tested before I installed Mavericks again lol.. I was poking around the forums and saw someone mention something about certain system profiles not working on Yosemite. I noticed jbamford was using an iMac profile, so anyone who is experiencing boot issues should try using a mac mini or iMac profile and let us know how it goes. Also for anyone having audio issues maybe try using an older version of Multibeast that worked for you before, I have been having to do that for this board for a while now to prevent audio loss when going into sleep mode.

I've used the previous (Mavericks) version of Multibeast and VOILA, issues with sound and ethernet not working are GONE.

Looks like many of my issues are related to Multibeast actually.

what system profile are you using? and are you having any boot issues?

I agree that multibeast seems to be the problem for most people having issues with Yosemite.

ahhh :( how is your usb 3 working??? I've tried about everything and I can NOT get it to work at all...and it's the last thing I need! well besides iMessage...

Anyone else having issues with boot times on this board, mine have gone from about 7 seconds under mavericks to over a minute on yosemite.

Also as said before, sound is not working, and the only way I could get the ethernet working is by using the E2200 kext, but that keeps dropping out if left for a while.

I have also noticed that the dual drive option I have for windows / mac, under mavericks I could rename and hide partitions from the boot menu, but using the new chimera, I does not seem to recognise the flags in boot plist file ?
