I'd love to hear of native support as well, especially since they're far less power consumptive and yet more efficient

I have a GTX 750 ti (maxwell architecture also) and it caused the biggest headaches trying to setup with mavericks. Long story short it just doesn't work, at least for me. I passed the card down to my sons gaming machine and I've got a GTX 780.

Mavericks will not support it, but what about Yosemite? Will they add drivers for new hardware? Or does apple only add support for hardware they offer?

I think, that's usually the way they follow.. :beachball: Let's see, what ERSCreeper can report to us

Ok,I want to get a dedicated graphics card, how long will this last for me like editing videos in 4K and Photoshop. Currently i have 8gb of ram

As of right now the 980 is not supported, so don't buy it if you want to use OSX. Also for video editing the primary bottleneck is the CPU, not the gpu. So having a 980 vs 780 or even lower will not help you. If you have a 3570k as stated in your profile, you would see a large benefit getting a 3770k or upgrading to 4790k. OC'd hyper threaded CPU are great for processing video.

We'll have to wait and see. I'm following the MacRumor's Mac Pro forum section and netkas.org's forum to see what's going on with the 750 series. Unfortunately, not much hope for Maxwell cards until Apple builds a Mac with a Maxwell chipset.
