NVIDIA has released their alternate graphics drivers for OS X Mavericks 10.9.5. These are separate from the drivers Apple ships as standard, and should be considered experimental. These drivers have been known to solve OpenCL issues with certain applications, as well as providing better native GPU power management for certain devices.

If you've installed the drivers before, you may get a notification to update to the 10.9.5 drivers from the built in System Preferences pane.

In order to flag the alternate drivers on a CustoMac using Chameleon/Chimera, you must install the package and also add the flag manually to the chameleon.org.Boot.plist. If you use Clover, you can toggle back and forth using the standard menubar or system preference pane.

1. Open Finder
2. Navigate to /Extra/org.chameleon.Boot.plist
3. Open in TextEdit
4. Add nvda_drv=1 to Kernel Flags as shown:

Example Usage:

Code:
<key>Kernel Flags</key>
<string>nvda_drv=1</string>

5. Save and reboot

You should be on the new NVIDIA drivers. :)

From personal experience using Nvidia's drivers for a few months, they have performance problems for sure. When playing games, I noticed I would sometimes have lag spikes quite often in cycles almost. And sometimes my performance would be just what it shouldn't have been. Turns out that the VRAM speeds and sometimes the core speed of the GPU would randomly dip. Also, regular performance just wasn't as nice either, when switching back to native drivers my FPS was higher... Also too frequently was my core and VRAM speeds just not as high as they should have been, they were throttled even during intense gameplay.

Maybe these ones are different, but I have always had better luck with the native ones.

Looks like no joy on Mavericks 10.9.5 running 4K display in 60Hz (DP 1.2 MST mode) with latest drivers.
Hope to see it in a month time with Yosemite...

Hmm, I wonder when the GTX 980/970 Driver will come out since I ordered a 980 and I don't want to not be able to use my OS X
