Photoshop stuttering - lacking something

Hey, does anyone have a up-to-date build (mobo 9 series, haswell CPU, GTX 7xx series) that can confirm Photoshop working properly without any stuttering?

I'm saying this because mine is stuttering when using the hand tool, moving around different layers and zooming in and out with the mouse wheel.

I haven't experienced anything like this on Windows 7, only OS X Mavericks.

My build is kind of oldish August 2013, with the motherboard series 7.

Z77A-G41
i7 3770k
GTX 690 (dual GPU)
Kingston HyperX 120GB
Kingston HyperX 1866mhz 16GB

As a complete long shot - do you still have internal graphics enabled in the UEFI/BIOS. Is IGPEnabler=No set in your org.chameleon.Boot.plist?

These settings may or may not effect Photoshop.

Well I don't know if it affects it or not but I"ll check and get back to you. Given the fact that I just spent $220 on RAM yesterday just to make this crap work.. I'd say it's worth giving it a look.

On windows though it's amazingly fast.

Next try to do some simple fault finding

Remove the GTX690 from the motherboard and try use the onboard HD4000 graphics to see what difference that makes in Photoshop. Boot using IGPEnabler=Yes after you have changed the UEFI settings to reflect no using the GPU.

If you have access to a different GPU that is supported in OSX then it would be worth giving that a try too.

I installed the latest CUDA 6.5, but nothing there.
I can't take my gtx 690 out cause everything is watercooled and connected to each other in a loop.
I don't think the HD 4000 onboard gpu will help and I don't have a bios uefi. At least that's what a friend of mine said; he knows this stuff better then I do.

I'm thinking of checking the PS on some macs at the mall. If it works seamlessly, it's worth upgrading to the latest buying guide. But first I need to find the problem. It's really frustrating, and I really want to get rid of windows for work.

Is your water cooling system connected to the motherboard in some way with a system like the Corsair Link system? If it is can you disconnect it and see if you see any difference.

No, its a full loop connected to two rads, 360 (3 fans) and 280 (2 fans) that go on the CPU and GPU.

Adrian you've been a real help buddy, I went over to iStyle and they let me roll my PS onto a Mac pro, full options ($ 5858) and it was still stuttering, a little bit, less then mine. Theirs was a xeon 6 core cpu, dual AMD 500 gpu, with my exact ram, 16GB @ 1866Mhz.

So it's safe to say that this generation of Macs does not favour PS, and especially on Mavericks. Don't know how it rolls on a ML but..

Maybe Yosemite, someday, somewhere, somehow.

I am sorry that it just isn't working properly for you on your own machine - its not comforting to hear that even on a quite high spec Apple Mac Pro the problem still exists.

I would stay on Mavericks, but would add a new drive to test Yosemite on an ongoing basis while relying on your main Mavericks installation. Yosemite should be on public release in about 6 weeks from now.

That's a great suggestion Adrian! I will do that as soon as it hits the markets. I've heard some rumors that it will be free, right?
