Hi y'all.

I'm having the same freezing issues with this board. Glad I've found this thread, gonna test the bios update today after work. Just let me know this: where can I find the beta releases of the bios? On the Gigabyte website, I could only find the stable releases.

And I'm a little confused: do you think I should go for 10a or 8m?

Thank you in advance.

First, make sure your memory is on the Z87X-UD3H memory verification list. Second, make sure your PSU is Haswell ready/certified. Haswell processors and the 8-series chipsets are very sensitive due to the specifications.

This seems like a great build but it is a bit too expensive for me. Would everything still work properly if I downgraded to:

770 2gb
16gb RAM
Be Quiet Pure Power L8 600W

Hello ,

I just returned a GA z87mx-d3h due to its freezes even with the latest beta BIOS and trying several things like increasing the volage and manual setting timings. :silent:

So the GA-Z87X-UD3H with the latest BIOS is 100% stable now ?

Hey Short,

I recently just updated to 10.9.3 so I also had to update the bios. I reset all my bios settings back to the way they were (i think). But now, I cant wake my computer from sleep with my mouse or keyboard but I can by pressing the power button. I used to be able to wake by pressing the keyboard or mouse.

Also, after my computer goes to sleep and I wake it back up I lose all sound and I need to reinstall the ALC898 sound driver in multi beast, then reboot and I have sound.

Thanks,

Any help is appreciated.

Hi there,

Does someone has this very specific build with all usb 3 ports working fine (not at usb 2 speed) ?
I still don't understand why mine is locked at usb 2 speed and why I can't boot with external drive plugged in.

you want to make sure that in your BIOS
xHCI Mode, change it to Auto( not Smart-Auto )
xHCI Hand-OFF, change it to Enabled
EHCI Hand-OFF, Change it to Enabled

to make sure your OS recognize them correctly. The link explains the difference and why you ports maybe lock at usb 2 speeds.

as far as not able to boot from external drive. Not all drives are capable and you might want to do some research on the specific drive.

I have this same built and my BIOS is F8m and I'm getting some random freezes with 10.9.4 anybody with that problem?

Thank you, I set it like that already and it makes no difference with front or rear usb ports, I'm stuck on chimera loader (something like / and _) when device is connected in usb before an OS is launched.

Maybe I forgot to connect something to the PSU?

I am not trying to boot from an external drive, it's only a drive for saving my datas and so it stays connected most of the time. When shutting down computer it's still plugged and if I forgot to unplug it when, the computer won't access to chimera bootloader. The strange thing is that the 8gb usb key I used to install Mavericks worked fine (but couldn't tell if it was usb2 or 3 speed).
