Help with booting - only works with usb stick

Hey guys... any help would be appreciated. My system only boots into Windows, if I want to get into OS X I have to hit F12, select my USB drive and then the next screen comes up where I have to scroll right through all my hard drives to select Mavericks. I've been doing it like this for 6 months and gets getting tedious. I'm struggling here. I feel like I've searched and tried things and I'm just spinning my wheels. Can anyone point me in the right direction please? Thanks!

It sounds like your bootloader is not installed on your Mavericks HD.

What is your system? What guide did you follow? What is the default boot drive in your BIOS?

It is possible to hide some of those HD's but only if you don't change their order on the SATA bus.

It sounds like you are interested in booting straight into a particular HD and bypass the selection screen, is that your issue?

Yes that is exactly my issue! My system is a gigabyte Z77X-UD3H. I followed the guide on here using multibeast. The default boot drive is my windows ssd. I'd like to either boot directly into Mavericks without pressing anything or even if I had to press F12 for the boot menu and selecting the Mavericks SSD and pressing enter that would work too but right now If I do that or set the Mavericks SSD as the boot drive in the bios it will give an error saying insert proper boot disk press any key to retry.

Give us the actual guide, preferably the link to the forum post. The issue is still that your bootloader is not installed properly or with the correct options. DETAILS are IMPORTANT.

So my current method of booting up is just like step 5. I power on, press F12, select the USB drive, then I scroll through all my hard drives to get to the Mavericks installation.

Step 5 includes a section on Customizing the MultiBeast Settings. These need to be tailored to YOUR particular setup. What MB settings did you use? Where did you get that info?

I read what other people with the same MB did and copied them. When I chose EasyBeast or UserDSDT, the installation wouldn't work. So I went without DSDT and only needed to select the proper Audio drivers and everything works perfectly minus the bootup sequence.

Bob you have been the most unhelpful and rude person I have come across in these forums that up until now have been filled with kind people. I answered your questions and you respond with vague I'm done. Why bother posting at all if your intent is to only give people the run around. I guess that's the down side of the internet, people hide behind a keyboard and feel free to treat others like crap.

Hopefully there are other people out there who can be a lot nicer than bob the confused fruit/vegetable.
