ok I just want to thank you for all the help you have been providing. When I try to complete the patch the first line of does goes though without any issue but when I try to use the md5 check I get the "no such file or directory

I am really sorry for my idiocy. Thank you for the continued help.

Be specific about the command you're attempting.

Error such as "No such file or directory" means you didn't provide the 'md5' program with the correct path.

ok here is exactly what I type into the terminal
cp /mach_kernel "/Volumes/Macintosh HD/mach_kernel"

the hard drive is named Macintosh HD to make the code as easy as possible for me

That looks ok, assuming:
- you are in Terminal in the OS X installer attempting to copy patched mach_kernel from the USB to your HDD
- volume is really called "Macintosh HD" (use 'ls -l /Volumes' to be sure)

But you said previously you were having trouble with md5?

ok figured out md5 and it looks like the patch worked. I am trying to reinstall mavericks and I hope all goes well

my hopes were pre mature I am still having the reboot issue even after the patch

It is rebooting entering the installer or after? Confused as you already said you installed...

Using this guide, http://www.tonymacx86.com/374-unibeast-install-os-x-mavericks-any-supported-intel-based-pc.html, what step are you on (by number)?

Realize that between STEP 4.8 and STEP 5 you must copy the patched mach_kernel from your USB to your HDD by running Terminal from the OS X installer. Read the instructions carefully.

I am currently in step five. When I try to boot into the Macintosh HD hard drive it will show a black screen for about 10 to 15 seconds then flashes the apple logo and reboots. I have tried launching in verbose mode and in safe mode and with the GraphicsEnabler=No but all do the same thing

You now have vanilla mach_kernel on your HDD. You need to copy patched version to replace it.

See my previous post. Read carefully.

o.k now it will let me boot into the Macintosh HD but will show the grey loading symbol and the apple logo but has not moved on from there for about 15 min
