Mavericks: Native CPU/IGPU Power Management

Excuse me, but I don't understand this kind of tutorials. I'm Spanish and a little noob, so it's very difficult for me.

I've got an i5-3570K.

I know that the easy way is call for assistance, but I really don't know how to pass the point number 4. "Baseline". Can someone help me? Thank you!

Send me a message I also speak Spanish, maybe can help you.

Did you reboot between step 5 and 6? ssdtPRgen.sh script depends on having the correct smbios active when it is run (read the code in ssdtPRgen.sh...)

I just redid the steps considering your suggestion.
I'm not getting those errors anymore!

I still get high CPU frequencies tough. I'm attaching new SSDT, and other files.

Thank you.

Spoke too soon. I now get stuck at 800Mhz after a reboot. Same SSDT that was working before. see attached files.

Load Optimized Defaults

There is an additional BIOS step necessary for proper PM on the Gigabyte GA-Z87X-UD5H board with F9 bios. This may affect other Z87 Gigabyte boards/bios also. The default Uncore Ratio setting of 35 breaks PM. In fact within Windows and the Intel XTU, you see that the Uncore is actually running at 3.9 GHz.

By manually changing the Uncore Ratio to 39 (or any # other than 35), proper PM is restored. This post here is no longer valid; feel free to delete. I've tested multiple sets of RAM at various speeds, XMP profiles On/Off, and proper PM remains as long as the Uncore Ratio is changed.

NOTE - Every other step in toleda's guide still needs to be followed to enable XCPM mode for proper PM. I now get every step from 8 - 39 and IPG confirms this. Hopefully this post will help someone else.

Cheers!

Did you change this value after generating SSDT file or before?

Managed to finally get XCPM working after making a few SSDT edits indicated that relate to inappropriate P states. However, an interesting side effect is that Time Machine automatic backups fail.

This is one entry from the console log: 5/25/14 12:57:07.725 AM com.apple.backupd[2613]: Not starting automatic Time Machine backup: High system thermal level.

I have no idea why this would be, but on a hunch (the SSDT is the only thing that changed) I restored the original SSDT (without the previous edits) and turned off the Clover -xcpm flag and now Time Machine is happy again.

I'm using a Gigabyte Q77M-D2H motherboard with an Intel Core i7-3770 along with the latest Clover v2771 boot loader. My system is setup as an iMac 13,2 smbios.

Just for grins I'm attaching the ssdtPRGen.sh .aml files both xcpm and non xcpm. The .edited.aml file is the result of removing
the 'extra' speed state indicated elsewhere in this thread.

Now the real question is: Why would the SSDT cause Time Machine to see a 'High Thermal State'?

I looked at the MSR log from AppleIntelCPUPowerManagementInfo.kext and the only things that triggered my attention is the turbo ratio's. All of them being set to 39 is not optimal, because then any turbo request will result in 3.9 GHz. Not to mention that Apple's power management relies on some of the values.

Try setting the single-core ratio back to 36 and the core ratio back to 35/auto.
