MacMan or TonyMac...please help me with this because I am officially stumped. I just tried installing the new chimera to replace Chameleon 2.2 r2286. For some reason I cannot upgrade Chameleon to any newer version above this release and the same issue just happened with the new Chimera. After installing, I repaired permissions and rebooted. Once chimera comes up, i lose my icon on my main partition and it has "??" as the partition name. If I click enter to select the drive, it results in a constant boot loop. I then have to boot to another working Mac partition and reinstall the old Chameleon 2.2 r2286 to get my system working again. Please help me so that I can successfully upgrade my bootloader. I'm not sure how this would affect any uniquely configured installations- going from Chameleon to Chimera. Boot using a UniBeast USB, check your themes, and org.chameleon.Boot.plist for any non-default flags. Another method would be to replace with default MultiBeast installation. Good luck.

I have the same issue. My OS X install first shows as ??, then "OS Xt??". When I try to boot it, it shows the Apple logo/spinner/gray screen for half a second before rebooting. If I boot in verbose mode, it checks every kernel extension in /System/Library/Extensions, and then prints:

Code:
Starting Darwin x86_64
Boot Args: boot-uuid=ECE5B2BB-51CE-3D2F-B31D-577B8664A0D7 rd=*uuid -v

Booting Ubuntu and Windows 8.1 work fine.

Note: When in GRUB2, I can choose to boot OS X (in verbose mode), however it hangs (this may be the same problem as my usual 10 minute boot time)

Agreed. I should be able to install either Chimera or Chameleon, back and forth without issues but for some odd reason I cannot do so and results in what I described in the last post. The only theme installed is the default "black" theme which is installed via MultiBeast. When you say "non-default" flags, how do you mean? the only boot flags I have installed are:
PHP:
PCIRootUID=0 nvda_drv=1
since I use an nVidia GPU w/CUDA installed... "Replace with default MultiBeast installation"...do you mean to reinstall everything with a new version of MB or just the bootloader? I believe I have tried this with the same end result. any other useful tips?

Let's split this off into a separate thread. If you're not having issues- there is no reason to switch from what is currently reliable for your needs.

Please collect bdmesg from your setup and paste the results here.

1. Open Terminal
2. type bdmesg
3. Save output

Not having any issues other than the CPU speed not showing the correct value. This is the main reason I'd like to update to Chimera 3.0

OK will do. I will post back in a few hours when I get back home from work. Can't get my TeamViewer to connect unattended. :banghead:
Thx as always for your assistance

Remove current NVRAM plist, reinstall Chimera 3.0 and reboot. The bdmesg provided is not from Chimera 3.0- must be your previous version of Chameleon; Chameleon 2.2svn (svn-r2286) [2013-12-27 14:39:47]

Correct as I had to revert back to the old version to get system to boot. System will not boot with version 3.0 so how can I accomplish generating a bdmesg output? If I remove NVRAM, I will lose iMessage functionality. Any workarounds? I'm open to all of your suggestions...
