if you can disable it in bios it wont be a problem, if not you could probably have some issues with it.

Hello,

I want to try my first hackintosh.
I'm thinking to buy HP elitebook 8460p Core i7 2620M.
It seems that this model has only AMD Radeon HD 6470M card.
will it be a problem?

Find out what's really in it... Just Radeon or both Radeon/Intel switched.

Specs on webpages are notoriously incorrect. It is difficult for the manufacturer itself to get it correct sometimes, let alone retail partners.

HP EliteBook disables Intel HD anđ encrypts BIOS
I suggest buying 8470p with HD4000.

Idea:

You have this in your Clover guide:
* Only HP Elitebook/Probook b series without Radeon card is supported

Maybe add:
* Only HP Elitebook/Probook p series with HD3000 is supported. Models with discrete only are not.

BTW, I'm pretty sure that Radeon card can be supported, but I have no idea the injections required and of course it isn't supported directly by the ProBook Installer which means you would have to do it manually.

I also don't have any idea about AMD/nVidia injection. There are some discussion in insanelymac but they lead to no where. The supported models in my guide are updated.

I think you should add to your guide or create new thread for supported model.

I've thought about it, but you have it in your guide... so I'm not too worried. I think long-term, everyone will move to Clover, so your guide will be the main guide going forward.

I'd rather have people use 'lspci -nn' to verify hardware, but of course that doesn't help the person trying to figure out which model to buy. I'm not sure I want to get into the biz of writing a buyer's guide.

If you stay to versions Yosemite and earlier you may have luck with post installation with the HP Prebook installer app. I have been unable to resolve the video card problem to get it working in Sierra. The USB 3.0 was enabled by the generic USB kext from Rehab Man (thanks), but I'm not sure Sierra is running USB 3.0 at true speed.

I was able to get everything including the video card to work on Mavericks, by dumb luck. I think now I have a better understanding, what the Pro Book installer does:

1) installs patched kexts
2) modified the DSDT
3) modifies the 6000 controller kext
4) But only to Yosemite, that is an older OS and not desirable for my line of work

I installed Sierra on a new HDD, mounted the EFI from the Mavericks install and copied the folders in the EFI to the new EFI partition on the Sierra HDD. I also copied the patched ATI6000 patched kext over to the Sierra permission, (installed with kext beast). And was not able to get anything going as far as the video card seeing the v ram and frame buffer issues. Are there specific kexts or clover settings or frame buffer differences from Sierra to Mavericks in the same video card? or is this a lost cause? If you want more information how I was able to install on Mavericks, I can get you help. Sierra has been no dice.

Can anyone on the forum help us with this? I can send my EFI structure over whoever I can post it, as well the config.plist, as well the kext, provided this is not illegal. Thanks again.
