Hi,

As a new member of the hackintosh community, I was wondering if the NVIDIA 5xx series (GTX 580) has native support in mavericks (10.9.2)?

Hopefully someone knows :)

Thanks in advance!

Some people had problems when Mavericks was new when using some NVIDIA 5xx series cards - but there have been many with problems since day 1. I have a rather basic GT520 that does work fine in Mavericks. I think most problems revolved around the GTX 550 /GTX 660 cards and 'Ti' versions.

The best advice is to try it - and document your success or otherwise.

Okay, thanks for the info Adrian! I appreciate it.

In my official build I'm going to use a 780 Ti but I need a separate card just for the installation of Mavericks and the GTX 580 is the only card I can get my hands on for free. That's the reason I was asking this.

I guess I will have to try it out.

Thanks again!

If I can assume that you already have a working system and can download Mavericks directly from the App Store to create the installer flash drive, then the GT780 Ti card may work for you. If you are using one of the Intel i3,i5 or i7 consumer series processors in the buyers guide then internal HD4600 graphics are supported. XEON & socket 2011 CPUs do not have any working graphics.

I'm still waiting for my parts. I forgot to mention that I will be using the i7 4930k. That's why I need a working card during the installation. It has to work natively :)

I will also use Clover for the installation.

Socket 2011 CPU and motherboard with Clover/Mavericks - Sounds good:thumbup:
