You have a front panel problem. Is HD Audio connected to the motherboard?

Yes it is. I have tried with the front panel plugged in and not plugged in, still the same issue with internal speakers switching to headphones for a split second as well. I have been thinking, I did buy a fairly cheap case, so maybe the front panel is just poor quality? Or AC'97. Is there any way to tell?

I had that panel switching bug too and i solved it with different power management.
I know it sounds weird, i was surprised too but it did work.

Thanks for the idea, but no go.... Line out (rear black and rear orange) works fine so I guess if I can just isolate the front audio jack then I do not have to bother with the rear green one.

Another thing you can try is change the rear green output from "speaker" to "line out" and the location from "unknown" to "back".
This is at least what i did and it worked.

did you try unplugging front connector from the MB? As nothing is connected - it should never switch the outputs? If you not use headphones, it should work.

I disconnected front panel and what do you know. Audio works perfectly and the "pop" is gone too, figures...

I unplugged the front audio connector from the motherboard. Still hiccups on green port. The black port works without hiccups but eventually goes out too. If I put the computer to sleep and wake it back, the black port works again.

For those of us that are tired of dealing with this problem and haven't found a resolution, is there an alternative Motherboard you can recommend to use with a 4770k that isn't susceptible to these problems?

Has anyone tried the new Multibeast and 10.9.4 update? Has it fixed this audio problem? It's getting really annoying. I think I'm going to have to go with a USB-to-3.5mm jack and see if that fixes the problem
