Specs:
MB: ASUS B85M-G
Graphics: ASUS (Nividia) GeForce GT 640 2GB
CPU: Intel Core i5 4430 3.00 GHz
HDD: 1 TB
RAM: 8GB Corsair

Another PS: Are the specs above me compatible for Mavericks currently ?

You can, yes. Separate drives is recommended over trying to install on the same drive.See http://www.tonymacx86.com/multi-booting/96000-guide-dual-booting-mountain-lion-windows-8-a.html

The only problem you will run into installing Mavericks with an Asus board is the BIOS. It is totally UEFI and the MSR may be locked. You might need to patch the BIOS (see http://biosrepo.wordpress.com/faq/ ) and you will definitely need to install your bootloader in the EFI partition of the OS X drive (see http://www.tonymacx86.com/401-install-bootloader-extra-efi-partition.html ).

Another problem is that Win8.1 may be installed UEFI. If it is you will need to use Clover as your boot loader.

Hi

Thanks for the reply. About the MSR thingy, I don't really like to mess in my BIOS, because I am afraid that something will go wrong at any time. If I am not wrong, there's a other way to solve that problem ?

Yes, you can install NullCPU kext when you run MultiBeast. It will mean no speed stepping and no sleep function if you do it that way.

Ah, that comes in handy. Well I actually don't really need the sleep mode and the other thing. What really matters is that it works properly.

PS: Do I need to use the standard guide to install Mavericks, or is there a special one for dualbooting ?

No, standard guide for installing OS X is what works. The only thing you need to do afterward is to reconnect the Win8.1 HDD (recommended to disconnect it during OS X installation), boot to BIOS and make the OS X drive first in HDD boot order. This lets you use Chimera to select which OS you want to run when you first boot up.

Hello!

I would like to do multi boot pc with a mavericks and a win 8.1 pro installed. Is it possible?

I have a 180 gigs ssd and 1 TB HDD. Is it possible to install the two Oss on the ssd?I woud partition the SSD like a hundread gigs for OS X and the rest for the win. (I would use the win just for games like watch dogs, bf4 etc and the mac for every other things).
I have read the "install os x mavericks on any supported intel-based pc" thread so I think I can do the mac install but the dual boot with win is difficult I think.

Can you help me please?

Thanks. Is my mobo supported for macintosh?

Should do OK - GA site says ALC887 audio and Realtek LAN, so no problems there.
