I updated my SSD to Mavericks. I first tried it a week with a spare drive, now my main SSD is 10.9. I run Protools 10.3.7 and PT11 in beta. Both run good. There is a small problem with the startup with Eucon that i found a workaround for. It doesn't load, so i start it with "DelayedLauncher". Other then that, Mavericks is fine here, even without a statement from Avid that it works.
And also here; 700 bonus points in Geekbench.

Good to know! Anyway Mavericks is still in my spare drive since I reinstalled 10.8.5 just a week before Mavericks' launch, so I'll go on using 10.8.5 until Pro Tools and the rest of the stuff (drivers, plugins…) get their approval for Mavericks (11.1 is very near, I've heard…)

By the way, I haven't had much time for opening my projects from Mavericks since I've been checking general system functions (SpeedStep, general performance, sleep/wake, HDMI audio…) but I'll report soon.

Thanks!

Hi Ultrazone,

Are you using the VGA connection on the 650? If not, do you think it could work?

Sorry if this was asked previously but I couldn't find this information on this thread.

Thanks

Ric

Hi !

My Gigabyte GTX650 doesn't have a VGA connection, but as a rule of thumb VGA connections don't work with hackintoshes since these connections are not present in real Macs. Nevertheless I have a Gigabyte GT640 which has a VGA connection and it works, so your best bet is to try it... YMMV.

Hope it helps !

Thanks for the information, I installed Mavericks and now I can report that the VGA is working on this 650 card.(Zotac). Mavericks seems to be very compatible with everything so far!

Hello ultrazone... and Happy Christmas

I'm writing to know how you solved the backup of your system drive.
If I'm not wrong, you used a 120GB SSD drive but how you can safely backup and restore it? Where did you duped the data?

Thanks

Hi! Happy New Year and sorry for the delay!

Now I'm using a Toshiba USB3 500Gb drive for Time Machine. This way I plug the drive (via front USB3 port) and backup the system drive. Time Machine is enough for me regarding backups. In case of system drive's failure you boot with UniBeast and restore your drive. After that you would have to reinstall Chimera and you're good to go.

Write back if you need more help. Cheers !

Thanks for your kind reply and sorry for having solicited it... I'm so eager to install OSX into my new hackintosh...

Best! :)

Hey guys,

this question is directed to all of you. I have been using my build for quite some time now. Im running the same hardware that was used in ultrazones build (great guide in btw. !) except for the graphics (GTX 760). Im running the latest OS X Mavericks and also the latest drivers provided by Multibeast.
Here comes my problem:
Im also running an iTunes "Server" (WD MyBook World II). As the MBW is not the best choice for a Server (daaaaammmnn slooooww) it takes some time adding big heaps of data. When I try to do so (especially movies, even though they are only ~1GB) or synching with more than one device (iTunes already begins to stuck) I loose my connection. The ethernet port just stops functioning. To get it work again I have to restart the Hackintosh. It's wird because this only happens when doing some work with the MBW in iTunes with more "challenging" tasks.

Any ideas or similar experiences?

I would be grateful for your advice.

Cheers,

VZvL

Hi!

Which network port are you using? Z77X-UD5H includes two ports. I'm using the Intel one with a WD network drive working as a file server without any issues. Could you give more details?

Cheers!

Hi all!

I've just uploaded a video about this build in the new "Videos" section, regarding power management & performance.

Hope you like it!
