Hey ultrazone, have you updated to osx mavericks yet? I have a similar setup (mobo/gpu/cpu) and wonder how it's working.

Also do you know of a way to install it without losing everything?

Thanks!!

Hi!

I've just downloaded it and I'll try the next days. I'll keep the post updated, so have a look soon...

Also do you know of a way to install it without losing everything?

Thanks!!

Since I have 10.8.5 installed in my spare drive, first I'll try updating that install. Later I'll try with a clean install to see how everything works.

Good luck !

Bump !!! Mavericks' update !!!

I've updated my spare drive, which previously had installed 10.8.5. After the installation (which takes longer now) I've used MultiBeast 6 to install the stuff and everything is working as before: DSDT+SSDT edits, over clock at 4,7Ghz, sleep/wake (no performance drop after wake), HDMI audio in my three displays… everything working. Period.

I've noticed longer times at restart (not at shutdown), and also this:

An improvement of 500 points over in GeekBench over the previous score with 10.8.5. Yay !!!

Soon I'll try with a clean install in order to try audio interfaces, Pro Tools 10 & 11 and the rest of the stuff…

Hope it helps !

My brutha.... I certainly don't mean any offense, but hope you double-check the AVID KB on the state of compatibility of Mavericks and PT before you start down that path...

I just posted this over in the music forum...

And again, sincere apologies ahead of time - I didn't mean to disrespect or throw you under the bus. My heart was/is in the right place & my intent was to simply help to save you some time & heartache...

No offense at all BoomR !

I've installed onto my spare drive and I do all the tests from there. My main SSD has 10.8.5 which is my production system right now. Since my case has an external docking station, it's just a matter of seconds to plug Mavericks' drive and start fiddling with it… and all without interferences to my main 10.8.5 install.

Thanks for your kind words & good intentions ! Cheers !

Hello ultrazone

Have you ever used the grey internal GSata ports on your hackintosh?

I copied your build, but I added also 2 1TB WD Hard disks, so the configuration is:
2 SSD
1 DVD R/W
2 2TB HDs
2 1TB HDs

How can these ports be enabled?
Thanks

Hi Wave
In Bios go to Peripherals/Marvell ATA Controller Configuration and set it to AHCI Mode

wavesequence: I've never used the grey ports, so I couldn't give you a clue on how to enable these ports.

arehep: thanks for the tip! It's good to know...

I updated my SSD to Mavericks. I first tried it a week with a spare drive, now my main SSD is 10.9. I run Protools 10.3.7 and PT11 in beta. Both run good. There is a small problem with the startup with Eucon that i found a workaround for. It doesn't load, so i start it with "DelayedLauncher". Other then that, Mavericks is fine here, even without a statement from Avid that it works.
And also here; 700 bonus points in Geekbench.
