Hi,

It took me a few days and dozens of attempts to get my mouse and keyboard, both USB, to work in the Mavericks installation. This has to do with USB Legacy support in LGA 1156 CPUs.

I have a GIGABYTE H55M-D2H motherboard, but this should work for all (GIGABYTE) motherboard of LGA 1156. Here's how I got it to work:

- Format your USB as Mac OS X (Journaled) and make sure it's set to MBR.

- When you create your Unibeast USB, do not tick Legacy USB support. Only tick 10.9 Mavericks.

- Copy a DSDT file for your motherboard into the Extra folder inside of the Unibeast USB. If you don't see this folder (or any other file and folder), do this: assuming the name of your Unibeast USB is 'USB', go to Finder > Go > Go to Folder..., and type:
/Volumes/USB/Extra. Now paste the DSDT.aml file.

- In the BIOS, make sure both USB MASS STORAGE and USB LEGACY SUPPORT are enabled.

- Boot the Unibeast USB with the following flags: -x GraphicsEnabler=No PCIRootUID=0. Your boot flags might have to be different, depending on your GPU.

- Install Mavericks.

- After the installation is done, there's no need for any flags in order to boot into Mavericks. Just run MultiBeast and install your DSDT file by choosing the User-DSDT option and pointing the program to the location of your DSDT file. Install anything else you might need, such as an Ethernet driver (in my case that's the lnx2mac driver).

- Have fun.

I'm going to try your solution, but was wondering what form of Chameleon did you choose for your new install of Maverick. In attempting to move to Maverick, I messed up my boot and now I'm just booting from a USB. I

I used the latest version of Chimera that's included in UniBeast.

I will try this as well and report back thanks for this post, this whole mouse / keyboard freezing is horrible in 10.7 here is what also worked for me the mouse and keyboard didn't work so i left the comp and it went to sleep and the monitor went black i pressed enter rather press any key and it worked thats how i installed 10.7 i gave up on 10.8 but i will try this

Just tried this. Sadly it did not work for me. I have a Gigabyte P55M-UD2 board. All legacy BIOS functions are enabled. I have a GeForce 9400 card and must add "graphicsenabler=yes" and "PCIRootUID=1". I then get to the Install screen but there is no USB control at that point. Bummer...No way to advance. This is our homes main computer, so really can't tinker with it too much without irritating the family. Anyone else with a possible solution would be greatly appreciated. Maybe I'll just have to update my board and chip. Don't know. What I have is only a few years old and runs 10.7.5 without trouble at all. Hate to put down $200-300 just to run Maverick.

I stand (sit) CORRECTED!!!!

It DOES WORK!

My Set up... i5 quad 2.8 native with 4 gbs of ram and a GA-P55M-UD2 board with a GeForce 9400 Video card.

Well, my first attempt was unsuccessful but after going back to some other installation woes with these P55m boards I came across my mistake. I did not change the name of the DSDT file to just DSDT.aml. Dumb mistake I suppose but I didn't know. Things definitely booted up differently and I was hopeful but then I started getting crashes before getting to the start screen. I discovered that with my 9400 card all I needed was the "graphicsenabler=yes" addition and I'm off and running installing Maverick!!

Big thanks to yonyz to helping fix this one for me. Remember 1156 users, Make sure the DSDT file is renamed after you down load it. You can find your BIOS type by going into Bios at start up and pressing F9. Mine in F11 which I think is most common.

About 20 minutes away from Maverick :):)

I read your previous message this morning and wanted to tell you to make sure you copied a DSDT file to the USB but forgot about it, now I checked the post and I am glad to see you got it working. :) Don't forgot, once installed. to install MultiBeast with your DSDT or you'll be in trouble once again. :D

Just plug your mouse and keyboard in a USB HUB... look like a stupid answer, I know but you should give it a try, actually this trick work all the time for me...

He did comment that he solved the problem by adding the dsdt file correctly.

Good morning all.

I do not want to hijack the thread however I am having numerous issues and I am really considering that it may be a hardware incompatibility issue.

May I ask if more modern motherboards would allow for ease of install?

My old hackintosh running 10.8 I am happy with. I cannot for the life of me remember how I got 10.8 running but I did and it runs like a dream.

However mavericks, oh my god I have spent hours, removing the graphics card and playing with numerous -x -f etc etc. only once did I manage to get into the mavericks installer. Everything looked fine for tens minutes then the screen turned off and nothing.

Could it actually be the USB key I'm using? It is a 16gig.

Ok here is the speck of my system including uk pricing when I bought it in late 2010 I think.

Any help would be much appreciated.
