Dell XPS 18 - Is it possible?

Well, yes, that would be expected... "3rd_party_SATA" is on the Unibeast USB. Try installing the bootloader per power management guide and boot direct from your HDD.

As I did with the last installation of "3rd Party Sata" I went in and installed only "Chimera-v2.2.1.pkg". Upon reboot, I got this screen:

Then once I enter in my bootflags, (-v -x IGPEnabler=No) I get this screen:

As would be expected. No theme installed... I think I gave you this link already: http://www.tonymacx86.com/mountain-...nagement-sandy-bridge-ivy-bridge-laptops.html

Just to be clear: Follow the guide above for your initial post installation. But add "3rd party SATA". Then boot from the HDD with "-v -x IGPEnabler=No GraphicsEnabler=No". If that works, move on to graphics problems.

Expected, no patched AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement installed, wrong sysdef, etc, etc. See above...

Followed yet again, and am back at the "Still Waiting for root device". Could this be because i"m attempting to install this on an External Hard drive? How do I get past this without having to reinstall the operating system fresh again?

If your external hard drive is a USB drive then you are bringing another problem into the equation: USB2 or USB3 working/or not...

Not recommended. It is best to leave USB issues until later and install on a SATA hard drive...

You should still be able to boot with your Unibeast USB to make repairs/additions.

Ok. I will have to go into WIN8 and remove the stuff I need so that I can attempt this from the main hard drive and wipe the device clean.

I have been finally able to wipe the Win8 hard drive, and install Mavericks to it, and then followed the Power Management article as instructed. I also made sure a bootloader is selected. However, when I attempt to boot from the hard drive, I get the following:

boot0: GPT
boot0: test
boot0: test
boot0: GPT
boot0: test
boot0: test
boot0: error

Then it freezes. I still have to boot from the USB. Any suggestions? Did I miss something? I've done this twice now, even reattempted to install the bootloader, and it still does the same thing when I try to boot from the hard drive.

Search for boot0 error guide.

Follow here: https://github.com/RehabMan/Laptop-DSDT-Patch

Download & setup MaciASL as instructed in the README. Then run MaciASL
- it will load your "System DSDT" (because you have on DSDT installed at /Extra/dsdt.aml)
- now click Compile
- if you have errors, fix them or ask for help here (post your DSDT), if not continue...
- click Patch
- select "HD4000 High Resolution" from the left and click Apply
- also apply the following patches "Brightness Fix" and optionally: "Rename GFX0 to IGPU"
- when you're done applying patches, click Close
- choose File Save As, /Extra/dsdt.aml, format: ACPI Machine Language Binary

Boot with GraphicsEnabler=No IGPEnabler=No. You should get full resolution with HD4000 QE/CI...

If not, post ioreg: http://www.tonymacx86.com/audio/58368-guide-how-make-copy-ioreg.html

You can always boot DSDT=Null if there is a problem booting with the installed DSDT.

Fixing the Boot0 error was a success. I was able to boot into the hard drive without having to enter any bootflags to get it to launch (since I checked off both verbose mode and IGPEnabler=No into the Multibeast Installer.

I've went back to this post from earlier in this thread. I do not have a DSDT file, which I am guessing that it wasn't needed on my computer. How might I continue by fixing the Graphics without the DSDT File? Will MaciASL work without the DSDT (Will it create one for me?)

By the way, I apologize for making that harder than necessary. I could have saved myself days worth of hair-pulling-out by not trying to use that External USB

Maciasl will extract your system DSDT. Then you patch it and save.

OK... I've been trying for a few days now to figure out how to work this MaciASL... Maybe i'm missing something... and maybe I've been using PC's for too long... but I cannot for the life of me figure out even how to open the program. I downloaded the zip file from the website and now I'm completely lost... Is there another thread that spells it out for me?
