Guide to Installing Mavericks on HP Probook

Hi ... dear friend ... Now on my laptop as a dual boot Mac OS 10.8.5 and Windows 8.1
In your opinion, what is the best way to install 10.9 Mavericks? Should I install a clean install?Or is it better that I upgrading from version 10.8.5 to 10.9 Mavericks?.because a lot of software I've installed on both operating systems(mac.windows), which is very time consuming. After installing the Mavericks(clean install) will not have access to Windows or the entire hard disk drive will be formatted! and re-installing Windows on another partition again!?:( I'm confused ...:banghead: What do I do now. Please help ... Thanks

Thanks! :D Now my 4330s is running 10.9 (updated from 10.8.5 --> 10.9). The update guide was perfect, but in my case I had to use the "front" usb port on the left rather than the right as the installer never loaded when I tried to boot with the flashdrive on the right side.

All files and apps untouched and running!

Good luck everyone!

Hi there, I've wanted to upgrade from 10.8.5 to 10.9, made the Installer device via Unibeast 3.0 with laptop support. Everything went fine, but when I try to boot via F9 menu and then Chimera, it freezes in a weird image, after a short while with the apple picture. I have a 4530s with SSD and a 1080P screen built in. Maybe it is because of the screen? I even tried every other mode, like -f -F -v -x and -s, nothing worked. It only freezes in this weird screen.

Have you tried step 4a in RM's guide ?

I don't know why you are confused about this issue when you are the one that has installed 2 OSs on your laptop ?
Just upgrade from ML to 10.9 by following RM's guide (upgrading section), then Chameleon/Chimera will recognize both 10.9 and Windows 8.1. That's my opinion. Good luck.

Ok, I've copied the file and renamed it like it was mentioned in 4a.

Now it boots up and brings me to a blank white screen, where I can move my mouse cursor, but nothing happens. It just remains there.

In step select the partition to install, the installer requires reformatting the hard drive into one single partition. I think this tutorial is missing one MBR patch to recognize multiple partitions.

I had to wait approximately 5 mins for the installer after the cursor appeared. As RehabMan pointed out in the install guide "Note that the Mavericks installer is much slower to appear than the Lion or Mountain Lion installers were, so please be patient and allow plenty of time for the OS X installer to boot."

I don`t know how long you waited, but I suppose if you give it enough time, it`ll appear eventually. Seeing the cursor is definitely a good sign.

Try with IGPlatformID=01660003 IGPEnabler=Yes (assuming you have stock screen, and in addition to the other flags).

What flags should i use on the probook 4340s? i used the ones on the guide and still get black screen...mine has Ivy i5 processor
