No. You'll need to use the UniBeast installation procedure.

I've install Mavericks over my Mountain Lion 10.8.5 installation on my Zorro Sandy Bridge system with UniBeast 3 & MultiBeast 6.0.0. Easiest update yet. See my post here in my Zorro build description for my procedure.

I'm just curious why this needs to be done with a USB boot drive...Thanks :)

updated from ML 10.8.5 on my i5 rig - per instructions
had to use onboard graphics, (didn't have to remove Graphics card just change bios to onboard graphics) for install

chose DSDT free - GraphicsEnabler=yes (cuz thats what I had before) as I use UEFI on my GA-z68ma-D2H-B3

rebooted -changed bios back to PEG and disabled onboard graphics

booted fine (all apps etc still there - mail, iTunes/iphone settings still intact)- had to reinstall audio driver

iMessage worked once i signed in (though I had applied the patch from Macman (I think it was him) to fix it back in 10.8.3 - not sure if that is why it worked for me or not)

**edit - itunes radio not working
**edit#2 - itunes radio working after 11.1.2 iTunes update - run software update - - - sweeeeeeeeet!!!!!

install went well but SSD trim is not enabled and usb 3.0 seems not working on ga-z77x-ud5h

What boot flags do you use to install OS X 10.9?

Has anybody installed Mavericks in UEFI Mode? & if so, got any simple directions to follow? I have Windows 8 in UEFI & it boots so much faster than traditional BIOS. i was hoping i could do the same for Mavericks & ditch the traditional BIOS altogether. :)

When I select the USB partition in the chimera boot menu, my screen goes black for a few seconds, flashes the apple logo, and restarts the computer, please help! thanks!

Installed on a ga-z77-ds3h using UniBeast. Went very smoothly. Haven't noticed any issues yet, though I've only been running it for a couple of hours now.

No joy so far, I am running a 9550 (socket 775) oldie with nVidia 450. I created the USB stick per instructions but it will not boot into the installer. I have tried -x, -x -v, -x - v GraphicsEnabler=yes (and no) and with and without PCIRootUID=1.

If I use the F12 (gigibyte MB) to select the boot device to USB-HDD I get a quick flash and it restarts back to my ML installed disk and boots from there.

If I change the BIOS settings to boot from the USB, I get the chameleon screen, select the USB and it tries to boot - goes through abit of screen dump and then restarts back to the default chameleon screen.

ok so I found my fix, I just installed multi beast for mavericks, updated to the most recent chimera boot loader, and tried again. Problem solved, Im installing now with about 40 minutes to go, I'll see you guys on the other side!

EDIT: Success! I just had to reinstall audio and eithernet drivers, otherwise very successful download, so far no issues to note. BTW free ilife and iWorks! it all looks amazing! thanks apple!
