So after getting my GA-H77n-WIFI working with HDMI audio using the fix....i accidentally updated my hackintosh from 10.8.4 10.8.5 without thinking.....followed the instructions provided to update my audio with no luck. No more HDMI audio on 10.8.5 So trying to fix the problem, I added SSDT-1, rebooted and no HDMI audio....then I removed everything in the extra folder, rebooted, and then reran multibeat and then added the SSDT into the extra folder again, crossed my fingers and on reboot, NOTHING! I am not sure what to do since i am fairly new at this and just wanted to see if anyone might know how to correct my ignorant mistake or something that i am over looking??? Thanks in advance!

Hello All,

First off I'd like to say thanks to a wonderful community this is, and for getting my hackintosh running smoothly initially. I've run into the "no sound" problem after the 10.8.4 update and I've tried numerous methods to try and get it to work from reading through all the posts here with no success. However my initial install may have been a bit botched (read on). So let's me try to be as specific as possible to try and get a solution.

My system:
CPU: i7-3770 Ivy Bridge 3.4GHz
Mobo: Gigabyte Z77X-UD5H
Video Card: GTX650TI-O-1GD5



I downloaded the 10.8.4 update to my desktop, installed it. Then before rebooting, I ran the Mutli-Beast installer, however, instead of selecting the specific audio driver I needed (the 889 without-DSDT) I stupidly, just checked off the ENTIRE Audio box under the drivers in mutli-beast. MutliBeast did it's thing, and before I went to reboot I got this error message:

So I rebooted hoping for the best. Of course the audio didn't work and now under my system preferences panel in the "other" category, there was a "Voodoo HDA" control menu that gives an error when clicked. This Voodoo control panel had never been on my computer previously when the audio worked fine, likely due to the fact that I'm assuming the voodoo drivers are the wrong drivers for my system.

Anyhow, I tried multiple things to remedy the solution like deleting the VoodooHDA.kext file, and then running Mutli-Beast and trying out a different combination of audio drivers mutliple times. I then re-installed the 10.8.4 update and even selected to re-install all the drivers from mutli-beast (not just audio) and still with no luck. Then finally I tried just selecting the single audio driver with the proper 889 without DSDT (like when I first installed OSX) verified disk permissions, crossed my fingers and rebooted for a 5th time and still with no luck. I still have no audio, and I still have the useless Voodoo HDA control menu. I'm really hoping there's someone who is clever enough to diagnose the issue and find a solution!

Seems like you did quite the number...but I have some things for you to try.

1. Boot into your system...using safe boot -x if needed
2. Navigate to you System/Library/Extensions folder
3. Delete the following kext files that were accidentally added to your system by installing all audio drivers:
   • HDAEnabler1.kext (Added accidentally by installing any ALC*** audio driver)
   • HDAEnabler2.kext (Added accidentally by installing any ALC*** audio driver)
   • VoodooHDA.kext (Added accidentally by installing Universal audio driver)
4. Navigate to your System/Library/PreferencePanes folder and delete the following to remove the useless Voodoo preference pane control menu
   • VoodooHDA.prefPane (Added accidentally when you installed universal VoodooHDA audio driver)
5. Launch disk utility and repair permissions then Reboot
6. Once logged back in, run MultiBeast and "carefully" select the correct Audio driver that you need for your system and install it.
7. Repair permissions again and reboot
8. See what you get!

Thanks for your reply, I followed your instructions to a tee, but still no audio for me. I can't for the life of me figure this one out? Do you have anything else I could try or anyone with any other suggestions?

Ok so I finally fixed the audio! Woooo - What I did to solve the issue was run multi-beast, selected only my driver for my motherboard (898 no DSDT), installed it - then - I downloaded Kext Utility and ran that - It repaired the permissions directly in the kext folder - rebooted for what must've been the 25th time today, and finally after hours of struggle, she's fixed. I hope we this solution can help some others out as well!

Glad you figured it out! That was going to be the next set of instructions that I was going to give you.

1. Download Kext Utility or Champlist, repair permissions and rebuild system cache
2. double check system audio preferences to make sure you have the correct "line-out" device selected
