I will change now to other Mac Pro 3.1 system definition, benchmark and post results.(updated seems to work faster the 5,1)


Im thinking in buy a mini pci express card to use the same pci mount that came with the board, and finally have wifi..... is cheap on ebay. Always worked with ethernet with no problems.

The "3rd Party SATA/eSATA" drivers (kexts) I installed to use the Marvel 88SE9172. The system profiler shows it working. Still not sure if is really a need.

The USB3 generic kext was giving me problems with external docks and other stuff, now with the default usb3 driver it works perfect!


The FakeSMC is very useful but does not work good with my sandisk ssd drives. Shows wrong lifespan of the hardrives. But everything else is perfect!

Air play have never worked I have a apple TV and it flickers every time I send signal.

Initially, after updating to 10.8.5, I just replaced the audio driver as the standard operating procedure (SOP) recommends. However, I had a bunch of minor problems. I had originally installed 10.8.0 on this build and had only reloaded the audio and sometimes the Ethernet drivers after each update.

So, thinking it couldn't hurt, I did a MB configuration load as if it was a fresh install on my Thunderball system. Bingo! All of my minor problems were corrected.

So, my lesson learned is that other kexts/drivers change from update to update beside the audio and Ethernet. Thus, whenever a new MB is released, I will thoroughly review the changes and probably rerun MB to install the new changes.

hello I have a problem since I'm on 10.8.5 I can no longer activate the HD4000 without it freezes on startup
I have to disable HD4000 and used my GT 640


does anyone have a solution?


smbios Mac Pro 3.1 bios IGFX graphic main boot
(Smbios Mac mini 6.2 no longer works with 10.8.5)

I updated from 10.8.3 to 10.8.5 and my SSD write speed seems to have dropped back to below a decent spinning drive performance. BlackMagic reports about 150. I was seeing 300+ after the 10.8.3 update. Read is about 300 and I believe that got slower too?

I'm running 10.8.4, generally without problem. However hard drives attached to the rear eSata port seem to randomly disconnect themselves. Is anyone seeing that with this motherboard? Any tips?

did you disable suspend disk
in the energy saver preferences
(for those spineless used smbios 6.2 Mac mini with 10.8.5 and on an additional graphics card under 10.8.5if you have a blockage at startup you must disable the HD4000
Then the video using flash player will not work anymore and goes to freeze the machine has this moment just go in preference flash player when you be on a video without playing and disabled hardware acceleration)

may be the eSATA port on your box is damaged .....


I use the internal connector is the same as the external and I have never had a disconnection drive

The 10.8.5 Supplemental Update is out. My procedure was to

1. Repair Permissions using the Disk Utility on the drive to be updated;*
2. Backup your current system with Time Machine or Carbon Copy Cloner or SuperDuper;
3. Run the Software Update;
4. Reboot;
5. Run the latest MultiBeast to reload only the audio driver;
6. Reboot; and
7. Repair Permissions again.*

Done!

I noticed no problems. My BT was working before this Supplemental Update so I didn't expect any noticeable improvements.



* You can use the Terminal instead of Disk Utility if you feel comfortable with a UNIX command:

sudo diskutil repairPermissions /
