Hello :D

I'm about to creat an hackintosh (in G5 Case), in order to replace my Mac Pro from 2008.
So i choosed for the big part:

- 2 HDD with 1To (Western Digital)
- 1 SSD from Samsung
- http://www.amazon.com/GIGABYTE-GA-Z87MX-D3H-CrossFireX-MicroATX-Motherboard/dp/B00E0O0NMM/ref=sr_1_3?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1380464752&sr=1-3&keywords=Gigabyte+GA-Z87MX-D3H
- http://www.amazon.com/Corsair-Series-Modular-Bronze-CX750M/dp/B00ALK3KEM
- Some Corsair RAM (16GB)
- one http://www.amazon.com/Noctua-Heatpipe-Bearing-NH-C12P-SE14/dp/B003JME1CO/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1380464824&sr=1-1&keywords=Noctua+NH-C12P+SE14
- Graphic card is an ATI Radeon Saphire HD6870 1GB I found on ebay

And the CPU:
- http://www.amazon.com/Intel-I7-4771-1150-Processor-BX80646I74771/dp/B00EUTW24E/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1380464854&sr=1-1&keywords=Intel+Core+i7+4771

I wanted to know if this will run on Mac OS X Snow Leopard 10.6.x ? Having some un-understanding with the ivy/sandy/-e bridge things?
Can you clarify it with me? :)

Thanks for your time :D

Will not run Snow Leopard - no support in kernel. You want to run SL, get a socket 1156, socket 1366 or socket 1155 Sandy Bridge mainboard with CPU to match. Might even try socket 2011/X79, but don't think you will have much luck there.
FYI:
Socket 1155 Ivy bridge did not get support until Lion 10.7.5. Socket 1150 Haswell is supported somewhat in Mountain Lion 10.8.5.

Thanks a lot for your answer :)

What motherboard do you suggest for my purpose?
I search for the socket 1366 and CPU i found for this are the Xeon, a little more expansive :/
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128512 will work with any CPU listed at http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=100007671%20600095610%20600095611&IsNodeId=1&name=Sandy%20Bridge
Your choice of how powerful you need CPU

BTW, Don't think you are going to find support for the AMD/ATI GPU in SL.

Okay

Thanks, i'll keep those links in mind for my second hackintosh in an ATX format case.

I'll buy what I said in the first post, and install Mountain Lion (unfortunately) because I already have the graphic card and the G5 case mode for m-ATX size.

But the future hackintosh will definitely be in a G5 mod for ATX and with the motherboard you mentionned, thanks for this :)
