audio works but mute function doesnt

any idea why my audio works just fine (using apple keyboard), the volume up/down functions work but when i hit mute it registers as not working, the volume icon appears on the screen like normal but it appears like this:

i5 3570k

Mute is not available on 887_v100302 and 888_v100302

The choice was no sound or no mute.

got it, i guess i can deal with that since i can just turn the volume down.
