So far so good from Combo Update, using Stork's method.

Update: Like everyone else, my USB3 wasn't working (iPad was the only device working in USB3). I removed GenericUSBXHCI.kext from /S/L/E/, restarted, and now USB is working fine. (Downloaded, but did not install the updated GenericUSBXHCI.kext 1.2.5.). Audio and App store working.

Thanks everyone for all the supports & reports!

I also see that the following bluetooth kexts have been updated:
IOBluetoothFamily.kex
IOBluetoothHIDDriver.kext

maybe putting back the 10.8.4 ones fixes the problem

Nope, it doesn't, unfortunately... :-/

I tried everything:
-Modifying the actual 10.8.5 info.plist Broadcom Bluetooth KEXT inside IOBluetoothFamily.kext, by adding my Device ID and Vendor ID for my BT Dongle...
--> Nothing, BT doesn't even work...

-Putting my 10.8.4 IOBluetoothFamily.kext back
--> Bluetooth seems to work, but I can't set any connection up with my magic mouse or wireless keyboard

-Putting my 10.8.4 IOBluetoothFamily.kext AND IOBluetoothHIDDriver.kext back
--> Same as just above

Seems Apple has done something deeper with Bluetooth... I'll wait for a fix or Mavericks, hoping BT and other things still work with 10.9...

Assrock Z77e-itx: also need to remove the GenericUSBXHCI.kext before i could install the Combo updater. Afterwards need to reinstall audio/network and all fine except 2 of 4 USB3 ports are not working (which are on the back of the main board). The internal USB3 connector connected to the prodigy case are also working fine.

I used combo update, also lost the Bluetooth, but noticed that IOBluetoothFamily.kext and IOBluetoothHIDDriver.kext are the same as in 10.8.4. (checked at Date Modified column). It's very strange... what could be the problem?

this went really smooth. needed to reinstall audio and trim. game performance is much smoother than is was with 10.8.4. i don't think i get more fps but the experience is much more enjoyable. the stuttering and lag have pretty much disappeared. heaven benchmark runs much smoother but with same score.

No joy for me:

Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UP5-TH
Core i7 3770K
16 GB RAM
Gigabyte GTX 670

I had previously set my system def to MacPro5,1 and deleted ApplePowerMangement.kext and AppleTyMCEDriver, they did not get reinstalled by the combo updater. I fixed permissions, rebooted, ran the combo updater, then Multibeast 5.4.3 to update audio (ACL898) and Trim, tried to fix permissions again and got message that the whole drive could not be accessed, only one slice (weird).

I tried pmVersion=0 also, still no joy.

My boot options are: -v npci=0x3000 darkwake=0

also deleted GenericUSB kext

System hangs on "System Uptime..."

Maybe it's because of the system definition, I will try MacPro3,1 and reinstall the combo update.

Tried that, still fails to boot. But there's nothing wrong with the drive, once I clone it back from a backup it boots fine.

Do I need to put back ApplePowerMangement.kext and AppleTyMCEDriver?

I installed the 10.8.5 from the App Store without even thinking. When I rebooted everything was fine except the audio; it's a simple process to get it working.

Bearing in mind I did all this after installing the update.

1. Repair Disk Permissions
2. Open Multibeast - re-install audio drivers
3. Repair Disk Permissions again
4. Reboot

Now everything should be working.

Dude... THANK YOU !! You made my day. I did the same and everything is fine now :)

Strange enough iphone (4S) and USB2 devices are not recognized on the USB 3 ports which did before...
