Thanks Fogel, i have been using your kext for a few months now without any issues whatsoever! Initially on my i3/H55 but now also on my i7/Z77 hack.

These days it is mostly the SPDIF i am using and my requirements are modest since i am on Windows for my main DAW-environment.

Hello,

Can you confirm that the Delta 66 works with the modded Envy24 Drivers in Moutain Lion please ?

I need to update from Sl to ML to install Logic 10 ! But i'm not sure my Delta 66 will work...

For now, it's OK with the Envy24 Drivers under Snow Leopard.

Regards
GP

Hi all, first post here at tonymacx.
I was in the same situation as you guys yesterday so I took the liberty to modify the Envy24 driver found at audio-evolution.com. I own an Audiophile 2496 myself so I was stuck with kernel panic after wake. What I've fixed in the kext is:

1. Sleep/wake shuts down and inits the driver
2. Sound in and out in stereo with analog inputs

I sent an email to the author of the driver today and apparently he has stopped developing it and had no objections to me sharing my mod.
I hope it's okay to attach it here at the forum, please tell me if it's not.

OS 10.8.x Mountain Lion only.
Overwrite existing in /System/Library/Extensions after backing up the old one. Reboot.

Huge disclaimer though; the same warnings still apply as with the older versions and the fixes above (although working for me) may cause all kinds of trouble. So use at your own risk. And I have only tried it with my Delta Audiophile 2496.

Anybody having luck with this driver in 10.8.4? I have a Delta 2496 and although the envy24 drivers show up in the sound panel, I'm not getting any sound.

I did install the 10.6.x m-audio drivers from their website before seeing this thread hoping it would work (it didn't), and I'm not sure how to uninstall them. Could that be the reason?

EDIT: I also get the "System extension cannot be used... /System/Library/Extensions/Envy24PCIAudioDriver was installed improperly..." popup when moving the file manually or with a kext installer. I assume that is the reason I don't hear sound? Advice?

Just installed the card (Delta Audiophile 2496) on my machine tonight - os x 10.8.4 and found this thread.

I installed the ketxt using Kext Helper b7 (now likely called Kext Beast here in the downloads->software) and at least the RCA outputs are working. Computer sleeps and wakes fine as well. Thanks fogel!

I did that too before I saw the thread here, but I don't see the extension it installed in my System/Library (likely because it was a PPC driver)...

I would remove the Envy24PCIAudioDriver.kext, reboot then re-install again with Kexthelper. Make sure the Kexthelper repairs permissions...

Hello fogel!

First of all thank you for sharing this modded kext. Unfortunately I have to report that for me it does not work properly. I have a Gigabyte Z68XP-UD4 motherboard with BIOS F6, Core i7 2600k processor and an ASUS GTX560Ti graphics card. Running Mac OS X 10.8.2.

I have everything working perfectly now except for the soundcard (Audiophile 2496).

What happens is I install the kext using KextHelper which reports successful. then I restart the computer and it proceeds to boot. Noticeably slower boot with "pauses" when the kext is installed. Then finally it gets to the login screen only to find that keyboard and mouse is completely dead. Could it be some fix in Multibeast or something that I applied which conflicts with it? I have no idea what to do... if it is something that can be fixed.

I only require proper sound playback at 16bit 44Khz/48Khz for my hackintosh to be happy. Looking at buying an ESI Juli@ Xt soundcard (PCIe variant) to replace the Audiophile unless I can get it running (the official driver for Windows also has bugs and issues so have been considering upgrading for a long time regardless... just it would be nice if I could use this card that I have somehow...

UPDATE: Tried an entirely clean installation (started over from scratch) when I booted with -v I found that the driver reports the following:

Envy24 card found, but the sub vendor ID is something ffffffffff and thus not fully supported, and then it starts spewing "Waiting for I2C Failed!"... keyboard and mouse completely locks up too. Is there anything that can be done to fix this? If there is and someone can point me in the right direction I would be very thankful...

Kindest regards,
doskungen.

I have this card and just reinstalled it for the first time since removing it for the OS X installation. This is on a dual-boot Windows 7, Mountain Lion (separate SSDs) machine (H77M-D3H i3-3225). I use the card in Windows, and I'm not going to attempt to get it working in OS X. I'm just hoping that its presence in the PCI slot alone doesn't hamper OS X. So far I haven't noticed any problems.

Doesn't seem to me that there is any problems to be had just by having it sitting in the PCI slot. Though I find it incredibly annoying that it doesn't want to work for me (as it seems many others here have had much better luck) so now my only option seem to be to get the ESI Juli@ XTe which has drivers that should work in OSX (from the manufacturer).... but that's some $150 to spend too...

It would be nice to have it working in OS X. However, being that PCI is really outdated now, I imagine it would take some work.

update: I've removed the card - multiple KP over the last few days...
Not recommended to use with 10.8 :(
