Suggest you start you search by looking at this site and others for information on making a Dell XPS8100 into a Hack.

We have some links where users have been able to do this.

But first you will need to know what the internals of your hardware are. What is needed to know is the type of chipsets your motherboard has on them. Sound Network are the important ones to get your hardware to work w Mac OSX.
As to doing a Dual Boot - I would suggest you locate a used SATA hard drive (up to 500 GB) and use this as the test bed for your install. A SATA HD from an old computer or a spare that was upsized is perfect - it will be formatted so any data will be destroyed on this drive.
You can do a Dual Boot but the current install of Windows will need to be destroyed.
So having a 2nd Hard disk is the better plan - make the DVD drive the 3rd sata port the windows drive the 2nd sata port and the OSX drive (test drive) the 1st sata port.

Also you will need to review the Snow Leo Install Guide and make sure you BIOS has support for AHCI S3 HPET
and you may want to update the BIOS if the version of the BIOS is real old. (original released version ) info available on Dell support website.

So to find out what the components are on the motherboard - use a program like this - Resource tool for inspecting hardware on you system
http://www.piriform.com/speccy

locate the info on the network and the sound and post back.

We need to use AHCI

Will not work in RAID to my knowledge

If you have not updated the BIOS for this system and one is available please see about installing a newer BIOS.

Also FYI Dell is one of the main manufactures that has not enabled AHCI in thier BIOS for some time, this will be a problem for us and for you.

I'd abandon Snow Leopard and move on to Mountain Lion for this machine, provided it will suit your needs.

Set to RAID in BIOS, this seems to act as AHCI by default when no RAID setup is detected. You will need to put in your installers Extra folder a modified AHCIPortInjector.kext that contains the specific ICH8 dev id used in XPS 8100. You will not require a DSDT for this system. Also needed are ALC 887 from multibeast and a modified Ethernet kext.. Once you are familiar with it this system will be excellent on 10.8.5. Only part I'm not familiar with is your graphics card, sorry.
