I'm trying to build a workstation with a single processor from the current crop of Haswell Xeon E3s and ECC memory, but I couldn't find many successful builds on this board. Is there any existing motherboard that would match my requirements and has reports of a stable build? I'm thinking of these specs:

Motherboard, Supermicro MBD-X10SAE-O, LGA 1150 Intel C226
(onboard audio chipset: Realtek ALC1150)
(LAN chipset 1: Intel I210-AT)
(LAN chipset 2: Intel I217-LM)
Processor, Xeon E3-V1230V3
Discrete graphics, MSI Radeon HD 6450 1 GB
ECC memory, Kingston KVR16R11D4K4 DDR3 1600

Finding the right motherboard seems to be the main challenge.

P.S.: It's my first post here. Just want to add a word of thanks for this community. With help from reading the posts here, I've set up two stable systems so far, an ASUS P8P67 Deluxe and a MSI Z77A-GD65. Thanks so much!

There are no reported successful Haswell builds because there is not yet Haswell support in Mac OS X.

Oh no, thanks. What about a successful IB build with single Xeon and ECC?

ASUS P8C WS and an IB Xeon. Memory is ECC, but can't be sure if it is recognized by the OS.

With 10.9.2 and MacPro6,1 SMBIOS I have had a week's worth of uptime (and still increasing). So I would call this stable. I am testing ZFS for Mac at the same time and running two virtual machines for school projects, so I can't be sure why this used to crash (got stuck, no KP) but now hasn't.

Haven't tried sleep for a while. It did once work with 10.8.5 but I could not figure out what I did to make it work. Restart and shutdown are ok. Shutdown did not work at first, but the usual solution is to disable wake-on-lan from BIOS, and that solved it.

Speedstep works. I have 16 34 36 37 38 after I generated an SSDT by the widely available script. Thanks to all who have contributed to it. A nice piece of software.

If you have the courage and money, please try the 4-core E5 Xeon in the real MacPro6,1 in a board with the same chipset. I would probably do that now if I hadn't built this machine about a year ago.
