So i did this and Windows 8 will not install to the partition it claims it couldn't create a new partition or locate an existing one... I made it 3 partitions 2, 100gb one for windows and one for osx108, and left the third one as empty space for incases. But it will not install to the partition any thoughts? I used the OSX installer to make the partition layout and it is GUID.. another note the Dirve0 Partition 1 the efi is 200mb not 100mb like ur note. Also going to add i am doing this all on a Dell XPS M1530 which to my knowledge doesn't support UEFI

It is not mentioned in the guide in post#1, but make sure you choose Custom Install when you get into the Windows installer.

Aye thats the only way I install Windows. but It just flat out won't let me install to the drive. I am at a loss I got it to install once but i think i accidently formated the EFI partition that OSX made which didn't allow OSX to boot anymore at all

Make sure UEFI is disabled in BIOS.

And I don't know if it matters, but I like to pre-format the Windows target partition as NTFS using gparted in Linux first. Of course, this wipes out the MBR side of the GPT/MBR hybrid, so you have to run 'gptsync' after.

It is not mentioned in the guide in post#1, but make sure you choose Custom Install when you get into the Windows installer.

I did not mention it as it is one of the steps in the guide I linked. Custom install is required to use if you are doing a clean install instead of an upgrade.

I did this for the first time. Really straightforward and easy to follow. I am now running 64GB/64GB SSD w/ Windows 7 and OSX Mountain Lion. and 500GB/500GB HDD w/ Windows 7 and OSX Mountain Lion. One of the biggest things I love about this setup is just the booting. The booting is really amazing. I set it up so that OSX is main boot, but you can use Chimera and it makes it so easy to either boot to OSX, or Windows 7.

I am planning to do the exact same thing that you did! On my build i have a 128 GB SSD and a 1TB HDD. Im guessing you had 500 GB for each OS as a slave drive. Which OS did you install first and did you encounter any problems or confusing steps? Did you follow method 2 exactly? Thanks.

Okay, so I have a 250GB SSD, 170GB for OSX, and the rest is Free Space for now. I was going to go with option 2 and install Win7 second, but I was wondering about how to format it. I know the guide says MSDOS, but that has the 4GB file size cap. If I use ExFAT, does that solve that issue? And if so, will it recognize my Mac formatted HDD?

Or would it be fine if I formatted the Windows partition to NTFS and got MacDrive?

Also, I have a Thunderbolt monitor (with the Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UP5 TH motherboard), will I have any problems using it with Windows?

If you're talking about your Win7 system volume, it will be formatted NTFS from within the Windows intaller.

And if so, will it recognize my Mac formatted HDD?
Or would it be fine if I formatted the Windows partition to NTFS and got MacDrive?

If you need only read access to HFS+J partition(s) I would recommend using Apple's bootcamp HFS+ file system drivers for Windows. If you need read/write access, MacDrive is one option... there might be others. I don't trust 3rd party devs for writing file system drivers, but that is just me.

Can't answer that as I don't have any TB hardware. You could try and find out...

This worked fantastic! Was really simple, worked fast! Had to update Chameleon Wizard to get the Thunderbolt working again, but both sides are working just fine, Thunderbolt Display is working great with both! Thanks so much!

Has anyone tried this with a RAID0 configuration? I have an Acer S7 with 2x 128GB SSD in RAID0. I'd really like to take advantage of the speed boost if at all possible. I'm struggling to even get the partitions done correctly though. Gparted gives me errors and won't let me do anything with the partition. Parted Magic won't even let me see the array - it only detects two unallocated SSDs. I'll keep googling for more info of course but I was just wondering if anyone with RAID0 had any success.
