You should be able to cut off the 4 pin molex connector and reattach the SATA connector further back to shorten up the wire.
Edit: depending how the SATA power connection is made
Thanks for the advice, boys. So I think the molex plug will just pop off leaving a few grooves in the individual cables. One SATA connector comes off the same way, but the end SATA connector is a typical end plug - encased in plastic. Is it possibly to sleeve the cables? I mean, can I make a snip at some point near the molex plug, slide some sleeving and heatshrink on each cable, solder them back together and be good to go? Doing it that way would mean the little bit between the two SATA plugs would remain on sleeved. Would this look ok? Would it be worth it to remove the one SATA plug as well and put a shorter bit of sleeving on there too so that I could sleeve that section?
minihack, nice idea with the can, although I foolishly threw it away already. Wife didn't like having it lying around with two small kids in the house.
