HP ProBook Installer 6.1: 4x30s and 4x40s support

HP ProBook Installer 6.1 (beta): Ivy bridge support

Hi I have installed 10.8.3 using installer 6.1 beta and I am having trouble with my Log in Screen when booting up. The screen is displaced to the right and the resolution is lowered. I overcome this by logging in with my password anyway and then on the desktop I click on system preferences via the apple logo on the top left corner and select at the edge of the screen a lower resolution in the display options. The screen repositions itself correctly and I reselect the 1920x1080 resolution back to normal again. I have tried installing previous versions of the installer and must admit the problem is intermittent. I also have tried installing different versions of Chimera and again the problem doesn't go away once it is there. I have also tried both ATI and Intel graphics cards BIOS settings but the problem is still there. Is it a DSDT.aml problem? I am using an upgraded screen and my laptop is the LJ521UT#ABA from the United States.
I would really apreciate some help on this..... thanks.

Same problem here, after 10.8.4 and latest probook installer. I also have a 1080p screen, not the AIO one, i think its a LG or something. This has never happened before.
Going to try to fix by setting the resolution on chameleon wizard.

- This patched version (using pkgutil --expand, pkgutil --flatten) fixes the problem with Lion/SL SSDT.aml generation.

Version 6.1 beta 10 ( May 24th 2013):

- GenericUSBXHCI.kext and IOath3kfrmwr.kext are updated to their latest versions.
- The main DSDT patches now contains the latest fixes by RehabMan and the result is smaller patched DSDT.aml file.
- Chameleon Wizard is updated to version 4.2.2
- The patched AppleIntelSNBGraphicsFB.kext is included in all Ivy Bridge options as well.

Version 6.1 beta 9 ( May 7th 2013):

- The following kexts are updated to their latest versions:

VoodooPS2Controller.kext
FakeSMC.kext
RealtekRTL8111.kext
GenericUSBXHCI.kext
IOath3kfrmwr.kext

- Some minor fixes.

Version 6.1 beta 8 ( April 24th 2013):

- All SB system definitions are updated. Now the old SMBios.plist will be backed up, before the new one has been copied.
- Two new Chameleon/Chimera themes, modified for the ProBooks by RehabMan, are added.
- Fanreset.dylib is reverted to its original version and moved to the Common kexts package (was in every OS X specific package before).
- The new blinkscreen utility is added to the Misc OS X Fixes group.
- GPUSensors.kext and LPCSensors.kext are removed from FakeSMC.kext.

Version 6.1 beta 7 ( April 18th 2013):

- PXHCD.kext and RealtekRTL81xx.kext are replaced by GenericUSBXHCI.kext and RealtekRTL8111.kext.
- The SSDT generator script is updated to its latest version.
- There are some changes in the System definitions group. Now you have to select the definition according to the CPU you have (i3/i5, i7 dual core or i7 quad core) and the platform (Sandy or Ivy).
- Some DSDT patches are updated.
- Other small fixes.

Version 6.1 beta 6 ( April 7th 2013):

- Almost all common kexts are updated to their latest version (SL bugfixes).
- Some changes in the DSDT generator/patcher. Now it will create a text file with instructions, if it has detected you're running with already patched DSDT. In such case, please, read it carefully, it contains important information. Almost all DSDT patches are updated.
- The SSDT generator script is updated to its latest version.
- MaciASL is included in the Extra tools group.
- Other small fixes.

Version 6.1 beta 5 ( April 5th 2013):

- A new DSDT generator is added.
- Small fixes.

NOTE: The first three groups of patches inside the DSDT generator/patcher group are mandatory! If any of them has not been selected, the hidden patcher package will not be selected and a patched DSDT will not be produced. The state of the optional patches doesn't change the state of the patcher package, so if you have selected only the optional patches, no patched DSDT will be produced. Also, if there is existing /Extra/DSDT.aml, the Installer will generate a warning text file on your desktop with further instructions and no patched DSDT will be produced in this case as well, even if you have booted your system with the DSDT=No flag before that.

In short: in order to use (successfully) the new DSDT generator/patcher, you have to be sure that:
1. You are running your laptop with vanilla DSDT
2. You don't have DSDT.aml in /Extra.

The best way to be sure is to (re)move your current DSDT.aml from /Extra and reboot your laptop.
Even if the Atheros 9285 patch is in the Optional patches group, it's mandatory for all 4x30s models with Atheros 9285 WiFi card!!!

Version 6.1 beta 4 ( March 25th 2013):

- A patched version of AppleIntelFramebufferCapri.kext is added to all 4x40s options (and installed by default), which enables the HDMI audio of these models.
- A new SSDT generator option (based on the PikeRAlpha's script) is added.
- Other small fixes.

Version 6.1 beta 3 ( March 21th 2013):

- Bug fixes.

Version 6.1 beta 2 ( March 20th 2013):

- Added 10.8.3 support for both 4x30s and 4x40s laptops.
- Almost all common kexts are updated to their latest versions.
- FakeSMC by slice is replaced by FakeSMC by kozlek, modified for use with the ProBooks by RehabMan.
- Chimera is updated to version 2.0.1.
- Chameleon Wizard is updated to version 4.2.1.
- The AHCI patch is updated for 10.8.3 (still untested).
- Other small fixes.

I've just D/L the latest Beta and it doesn't have my system definition? (8.2) Now as far as I'm aware its not going to matter but I just want to get my USB 3 working.... I think the last installer i used was the first 61b4. Any hope that the USB 3 will work? Everything else is fine and as they say "If it a'int broke...."

Thanks in advance..

Since beta7 you have to select the definition according to the CPU you have (i3/i5, i7 dual core or i7 quad core) and the platform (Sandy Bridge or Ivy Bridge). There is also a new USB 3.0 kext since the same beta(7), you could give it a try. In order to upgrade your kexts, run the latest beta and select only the OS X version you have.

Actually, it does. Make sure you read the descriptions of each one. MacBookPro8,2 is "i7 quad core Sandy Bridge"

Guys, do you think this workaround should be added to the two 10.8.4 options?

My understanding is it happens on real Macs. My preference is to not attempt to fix Apple's bugs. I haven't tried it (the workaround) on my own system. The occasional line of output in system.log is really not a concern for me, I guess...

Actually, it's not so occasional, it happens on every coreaudiod usage, no matter if it's system sound or playing an MP3 file (two lines in the log for every usage). I've tried the workaround and it works on both my desktop and my laptop.

Alright then, the next beta is ready...

Edit: beta 12 is up!

Edit2: Please, test the package, especially the HDMI audio for both platforms and provide a feedback.

Edit3: Just tested it with fresh 10.8.4 install, works perfectly!

Hm, not really sure about that, but I have both kexts installed. Maybe you should try with both kexts installed too.

And very strange behavior of bluetooth, it doesn't work after first sleep (icon is active but nothing works), after the second time icon becomes not active for 5-7 seconds and after it begins work!!! It is so strange!! may be somebody can give me advises how to fix it??! Thanks

all kexts i use from beta 12 (10.8.4 and all common kexts )

BT: What do you see in System Info -> Hardware -> Bluetooth? Did you check system.log to see that IOath3kfrmwr.kext loaded firmware successfully? Are you running with any patched BT or USB kexts?

How did you install originally? Have you tried a fresh install?
