We recommend Gigabyte boards as they are the easiest to get running and don't require modified BIOS/UEFI like the others to get full functionality.

According to an independent reliability study just recently done, Gigabyte had the fewest returns of any vendor.

Only one thing is not really a good recommendation: the power of the PSU in this guides.

Why?
Have a look @ CustoMac Pro (ATX) for example.
the complete system will not draw more than about 250 W under heavy load.
The PSU is supposed to be a 650 W type. More than 2 times of maximum power needed.
Result. The PSU never is in an optimal point in terms of efficiency.
Typical power of the complete system during surfing, writing letter an so on is about 70 to 100 W - not more.
This is between 10 to 15% of the PSU's potential power and there no PSU has a good power efficiency.

Solution:
Take (and recommend) a PSU with 450 W. This is enough and more "green" for shure.

Waiting for the new specification of the maybe new Mac Pros to find a nice new buyers guide I can use.
The Gigabyte Boards are not more available here in Singapore :0(

So... I'm currently running a Late 2012 iMAC with the upgraded 3.4Ghz i7 and Radeon 6970M 2Gb graphics chip. I run the mac OS to do all my music edited (Protooooools is very important to me). But I'm also a tinkerer and the iMac doesn't really allow me much in that area. I also like to dual boot for gaming on occasion. I'm thinking about ditching the iMAC in favor for the recommended hardware for the CustoMacMiniDeluxe (Love the idea of a watercooler and beasly graphics card). My question: Has anyone built this specific configuration and does OSX play nice enough with it? Am I gambling too much here?

Because they can be a major problem setting up- and support is still experimental.
Radeon 7950
Is proven to work by Bob Roche and HackintosherHD on youtube

4TH GENERATION INTEL 1150 SYSTEM
Wondering when someone will put together a new 4th generation 1150 socket system. I'm looking at the GA-Z87-D3HP and it looks like it has the right chipsets. Any input yet on building with this 4th generation? If either Tony or MacMan gives the go on this board, I'll build one and post results.

Total novice, so excuse the potential stupidity of the following question:

Wondering how the CustoMac Mini Deluxe (i7-3770K, 16GB 1600Mhz DDR3, SATA 6Gb/s 240GB SSD, GeForce GTX 670) would handle video editing?

This system would work fine
