I got my Hackintosh running perfectly as far as I can tell, used Migration Assistant to bring everything over from my Mac Mini. The only snag I've hit is with iTunes. I should mention that I'm running 10.7, not the latest version, because I don't want to abandon Cover Flow.

iTunes itself is running fine, but when I try to sync my iPod Touch, I have to authorize the new computer. I've done this, but I get into a loop where it tries to Sync, demands authorization, and after I do that, tells me the computer I'm on (the Hackintosh) is already authorized, and I have used two out of the five allowable computers (the other authorized computer being the Mac mini). Somewhere in this process, I've had most of my apps deleted from my iPod, not a huge issue as they're mostly free apps, but I'd like to have them working again, especially the podcasts. I think that until I can defeat the authorization issue, that's not going to happen, even though the deleted apps are still visible in the Apps window in iTunes.

Does anyone know about this issue?

Unplug your ipod go to your iTunes account, select De-authorize all, close and relaunch iTunes, select Authorize this computer, plugin your ipod and try to sync.

Thanks.

I tried your suggestion, but it just puts me back into a loop. I get a successful authorization, but then when iTunes tries to sync my iPod Touch, it requests authorization on this computer. I enter the details and then it responds that the computer is already authorized. The problem then is that I can only choose between Authorize, Don't Authorize, and Cancel. Choosing Don't Authorize means that apps on the iPod will be deleted. Cancel of course means that syncing doesn't take place. Authorize returns me to the loop!

Disable auto sync, plug in your ipod, right click on your ipod name on the left sidebar, select Transfer Purchases, then left click again and select Backup, wait for the backup process to complete, enable auto sync, unplug then plug it back in.

I tried that, not sure if that was the solution as it didn't seem to work at first, but I rebooted, tried again to sync and something clicked when I went through the authorization. It's working now. Thanks so much for your time and help.

No problem. :)

Hello ! New to Hackintosh, made my first build, after some trouble everything is running nice and smooth, exept my iPhone syncing. I have the exact same problem as mentionned in this thread, in Yosemite, with latest iTunes. Already tried twice the fix mentionned here, but with no luck.

Does anyone have found another workaround ? I know I'm digging an old thread but I thought it was better than start a new one :).

There's not much about that on the forums, so I assume it's not a common problem, and therefore that there's a sollution to that :).

Thanks a lot !

It works ! So, what I've done :

I noticed that all my apps where not copied in my new system. So using my ancient system HD, I copied all my apps. Then I plugged the iPhone not on the case front panel but on the rear, on the mother board. Then tried to sync.

It went further, and then stopped telling my computer was not autorized, but this time with an another account ! And I realised that years ago, I won code for two apps but that where codes only for the US store. As I'm french, my main account was for another iTunes store ! So I had to create this US account, but then forgot about it. So I logged to secondary account, and then everything went OK :).

Hope this helps. On another note, I've to finish this post with this, not relevant with the subject but ...
