It is booting now from HD (as I installed bootloader while having the drive connected to another Mac)

Installed from UB created USB 10.8.0

After last attempt I can connect external mouse to USB3 port (and it works), but the internal trackpad stopped working
And pluging USB key into any USB port makes the machine freeze

lnx2mac realtek worked perfect, but HD4000 also does not load.

I wonder how much more time I can spend on it before fully giving up (did not see anybody else having any success with this model)

The reason I asked about your install procedure, is when you get various kexts not loading (that should) it is because someone is not using a retail OS X to start with (using a distro), or has done a lot of kext rollbacks from random sources such that the set of system kexts installed in /S/L/E can no longer be trusted to be valid.

Have you considered a fresh install using retail 10.8.3? After all, assuming you already purchased 10.8.0, it is free to download.

I am very interested in this thread as I have a Vostro 3460 (same hardware).

I can install from usb stick get to desktop but not much else, the usb drives did not work with me so I used a burned cd with multibeast but if I use the first option easy install meant for desktops that does not work then if I try installing a bootloader it can boot to desktop but then nothing works. No hope in getting good resolution, internet or anything to be honest. This seems like a very hard laptop to do maybe because not many people buy it for personal hackintosh use? Let me know if you get it to work I might have another go when I get some time!

Well, UB does the install USB ONLY from retail source, so that what was used!

I might give it a go with 10.8.3 when I have a moment & will update here

Keep updated but I think this laptop is a fail.

In fact with latest UB 1.7.0 created USB with 10.8.3 I can not even boot into setup.

Still waiting for root device

10.8.2 USB is not a problem to boot

Managed to boot UB created USB 10.8.3 by using this patch

So it installs OK, and with tweaking (remove some kext from Extra on UB USB) it boots to desktop.
Even with PS2 kext only internal keyboard works (no trackpad, even the kext loads), MB lnx2mac realtek works, patched USB3 kext as well (I can use USB2 storage in USB3 ports without panic), USB mouse works, so far no way to get correct resolution

Will keep testing... but loosing my will to deal with it any longer
