Nvidia 550Ti Sleep / Wake / Freeze Thread

please do looking to come back to hackintosh on my ga b75m-d3v rev1.1 ( had it running fine on onboard hd4000) but want to use my evga gtx 550 ti

I have the same card :)

1)are the freezes totally random or do they happen at certain instances? (i dont use the sleep function and random freezes only occur after a sleep)

2)after a freeze, does the console print an error called "OpenGL channel Timeout!" ?
3)have you used this guide by aolivero when installing drivers? (this fixed mine)
4)what options have you enabled in the org.boot.chameleon.plist ?

3)have you used this guide by aolivero when installing drivers? (this fixed mine)

I am on 10.8.2 with this card and have no issues with it. Even with sleep. I am using the 10.8 DPL3 drivers, the other ones cause the random freezing issue for me.

There is no Go!

Adding new Key:
[/COLOR]
Code:
[COLOR=#3E3E3E]<key>nvda_drv</key>[/COLOR]
[COLOR=#3E3E3E]<string>1</string>[/COLOR]

Result:
Does NOT made any change to my system or Driver version number, still OS X Default Version.

Adding:
nvda_drv=1 to Kernel Flags:
Code:
[COLOR=#3E3E3E]<key>Kernel Flags</key>[/COLOR]
[COLOR=#3E3E3E]<string>darkwake=0 nvda_drv=1</string>[/COLOR]

Result:
Made a change to my Driver version number, it shows now "GPU Driver Version: 8.14.11 (313.01.01f03)"
However, in the panel (menu bar) it always remains on OS X Default Driver.

Again to be clear.
After adding "nvda_drv=1 to Kernel Flags"
Driver version number is now always set to the new one "8.14.11 (313.01.01f03)" no matter if i start up using Default or Web Driver, always same GPU Driver Version "8.14.11 (313.01.01f03)"

I can't change between OS X Default Driver and Nvidia Web Driver, selecting and rebooting has no effect.
And as info, OpenCL needs to be patched again, because the new web Driver versions does not support it.
So we will need another OpenCL Code for the extra web drivers.

PS. as i saw the new GPU Driver version i mediately launched a Game to see if it works, and what happen? I had the first random freeze.
So even with the correct GPU Driver version number, i had already a freeze after like 4 mins.

I will delete now this crappy Nvidia stuff again from my machine and, going back with my "Add Wallpaper app" to fix the Random Freezes, this worked for me now peacefully, two weeks with no freeze.

thanks

I think I'm in a slightly different situation to everyone else.. I cannot reach the login screen in 10.8 through 10.8.3 without booting in safe mode '-x'.

Does anyone else have this with any of the Fermi cards pre 10.8.3? Specifically, i'm using the 550 Ti

Hi! It seems we have the same setup.. creepy. I'm using a Logitech MX518 mouse. Are you using that too?

Anyways, the solution to 10.8.X with a P8P67 LE is in Multibeast to check:

Drivers & Bootloaders -> Drivers -> System -> AppleACPIPlatform Rollback -> 10.8.1 Rollback

Enjoy ^_^

I noticed this the other day on the forum! It's a good setup :p but I have the BT magic mouse and keyboard.

I shall have to try this, thank you very much! What kind of setup do you have, which version of 10.8, which kexts have you installed for the card?

Yep! Finally!

My Full Respect & Thanks goes to "Dan542"

The freezefix app works! i had no freeze since we solved the issue with the Auto Log-in.
The app runs fine in background and not one freeze anymore.

More then 2 years of waiting for a working fix has now become to a winning end.
Thanks you so much "Dan542"
