[Solved] ASUS P8P67 PRO rev 3.0 - sound no worky! Any ideas?

Cheers! The latest one works fine now - went and set the iGain value to 0 in the .plist of the kext and wave good bye to the noise! Haven't heard any crackling sounds yet, but probably because I haven't used it enough.

Thanks for helping out - I have my sound back! :headbang:

Also on a 3xxx bios here. Im using a usb sound adapter at the moment, but would like to go either onboard or even better hdmi audio. Does voodoohda work with audio over hdmi?

And with the dummy sound device 3xxx seems to present to osx, does that limit our options for getting hdmi audio working with applehda and the usual dsdt edits?

Also where did you get your latest version of voodoohda that seems to work without noise, so I know which one to try myself. thanks!

Hello,
Can I ask you to make a short tutorial how did you make it,
I have also this motherboard, but sleep is not working, sometimes USB is off, sometimes it is stall. other time it's working just normal.
I'm not an expert in hackintoshes, but some problems making some*annoying things.

So basically can you write down which kext, driver did you use?
Thanks in advance, and sorry for my English (if something wrong), sometimes it is crappy :)

Hey guys,

Had my final exams, so been away for a while. I have just about recovered from this chilling experience

Right, alvindarkness:
  1. I can't test if it HDMI audio works over the Voodoo driver or what options it has. No HDMI cable, I am using the on-board sound.
  2. I could not make my mobo work with applehda (hence using the generic Voodoo driver still).
  3. I installed the Voodoo driver from the Multibeast (whichever version it was) and then used a kext editor to modify the iGain value (original value ~90) and set it to 0 - this is what fixes the noise. If you search the forum you will find a little tutorial (I can't remember where I found it). This takes like 2 min. to do and a fairly safe procedure.

Now aybekdes:
  1. The info above should be enough to make your sound work - use the Voodoo driver (plus info from samisnake in this thread).
  2. I patched my own BIOS (i.e. I did not use it from the library or downloaded it elsewhere). There is a tool somewhere on the internet that does it, then you press a couple of buttons and it's done - i.e. fairly simple process with minimum interaction. Search this forum for custom P8P67 custom bios, there's a link floating about somewhere.
  3. System stalling and USB not working don't sound like audio related issues really, I don't know why this may happen with your build.

I've same system and same problem.Did you fix it?Any solution?
Thanks

Hi hackintoshers,

I am running an OS X 10.8.3 without a DSDT with a patched BIOS version 3602. I have got working 90% of the system, including sleep (afaik!) and bluetooth / USB 3.0 / SATA III etc. One thing I cannot get working for the 5th day, after having tried pretty much everything I could find on the forum is the sound! I don't want to go ahead and install Voodoo driver just yet, as that seems to be crap and cause issues and some people have happily got sound working on boards using same audio chip.

First of all, I have tried using a DSDT for my mobo I got from the library right at the beginning, but that one doesn't work as it seems to be for 3.1 revision of my mobo (just doesn't boot, think it's a kernel panic on startup). Currently it happily works without a DSDT.

Anyway, my mobo has the ALC 892 chip and I have tried:
- Installing an ALC 892 kext from under with and without a DSDT section of Multi Beast.
- Installing different version of ALC 829 in an act of desperation.
- Using a .pkg solution posted somewhere on this forum which tried to sort all my drivers out. It did for the most part, but not the sound still.

Would installing an ALC driver in under "With DSDT" section of Multi Beast be the problem? Though I have cleaned the S/L/E folder for any ALC 892 / AppleHDA etc. kexts and then installing a kext from Multi Beast in under "Without DSDT" section afresh, but no worky.

Any ideas? Maybe I should delete some kexts and try installing the one "Without a DSDT" ALC 892 driver from scratch. In which case - what kexts should I delete (so I can reboot fresh and run Multi Beast to install the driver)?

Many thanks in advance!

To those P8P67 PRO (rev 3.0) people who would be happy to only have HDMI audio work, and natively at that - check out this thread/solution by Toleda http://www.tonymacx86.com/hdmi-audio/106223-ml-uefi-hdmi-audio-no-dsdt-edits.html

Just tried it on my P8P67 Pro thats being used as a htpc, and HDMI output using this method works fabulously. The bonuses are that uses the native applehda without any patching, ridiculousy easy to do (just copy one file into /Extra), and should survive osx updates without issue.

Hello,

I just bought an usb sound controller, it totally solves the problem ! It costed me 5€ :)
