Hi Humlebien,

I got my build done last night. Went really well. Here is a link to the build pics: http://www.tonymacx86.com/members/monty007/albums/Fractal Pro

I didn't have time to get everything sorted out yet but a few things I wanted to pick your brain about.

1) I installed HW Monitor and Ambient Temp showing up between 127 and 201 degrees. You having this problem?
2) have you tried playing with sleep? didn't work for me. I'm going to try the PleaseSleep app.
3) BitterMelon's build has someone in the thread saying he was able to get the existing Wifi/Bluetooth card to work but looks like you need windows.
4) I put a Corsair H40 watercooler in - I'm going to play with Overclocking this weekend. Will keep you posted.

thats amazing!

1) my says the same in ambient temp.. just ignored it
2) no cant get it to sleep.. But i havent played with it very much, cause its not used.
3) Ohhh havent read that, interesting!
4) looking forward to see your results!

Hey,

So I overclocked to 4.0 GHz and I'm going to leave it at that. This build is for my Dad so I'm keeping is pretty simple. Geekbench came in just under 12,000!!!! I'm really happy with how everything worked out. I'll do more digging around re: the wifi and get back to you. Temps with the overclock don't go over 60 degrees which I'm really happy with. Oh and sleep works. Don't ask me how but it works. Mac 3,1 definitions - full speedstep working flawlessly and Airplay mirroring to my Apple TV!!! That blew me away - doesn't work on my big-boy Hack!!

IIRC, the WiFi doesn't work in OS X. You'll need a PCI-e card like the TP-Link or Rosewill; the throughput on these cards are great. Watch for sales on either. Both cards are currently $40 USD.

when i use a custom SSDT with MacPro 3,1 i get the same speedsteps (16,17,18,19,20,38) but the cores are up to 10 degrees cooler? can you maybe check on this, on your build?

Hi
Hit idles in the low 20's between 20 and 25 with variations across the cores. I'm completely happy with that. Overall this build has gone amazingly well and I'm really happy with it! When I have time to tinker with it ill try out the SSDT you attached and report back.

Good job, pretty much a match to mine at least till I get a gpu.

Hey, how has your computer been running? I'm having issues with sleep. At this point got fed up with it and turned it off.

Some issues I'm having:

ethernet connection disappears after manual sleep.
auto sleep doesn't work well at all. Tried the please sleep app. After trying a few times kept getting the computer losing the video signal and powering off on its own.

For now I have disabled sleep altogether. Looking into Ethernet issue.

Sleep is turned off on mine as well.. (haven't used a lot of time trying to get it working.) Other than that its working perfectly.

But i have noticed..

- Ethernet issue i have it to, but only if "let's say my router restarts or losses power, and turns on again" then i cant get ethernet unless i restart the machine.. It will say that i have a connection though, but i think its a weird proxy-server IP address.. i have now tried to manually get IP, DNS Server and so forth, and locked netvork settings. but no luck.. Think i read somewhere in here that this "can be normal when using Ethernet cable." but not sure where i read it.

Found this http://www.ebay.com/itm/Atheros-AR9280-AR5BHB92-Half-PCI-E-Wireless-Card-300M-/160510168523
and think i'm ordering one at some point soon.

I think the problems we have would be eliminated with a good DSDT :D

Nice build! Fractal does some nice cases, my build is similar but with the Silverstone FT03-Mini.

Ethernet issue i have had with this board were to do with the DHCP not working correctly on some boots / after sleep, fixed by swapping to the Realtek - AppleRTL8169Ethernet drivers instead, no issues since.

I have go sleep working on this board but need to disable TRIM support with TRIM support enabler, after enabling it seems to stop sleep working correctly. Going to look at this again soon. (Multibeast could not enable TRIM either, not sure if this is a Multibeast issue with the board?)

What I am trying to fix at the moment is USB/Bluetooth Mouse lag / huge jumps after resume from sleep, which last for about 30 mins afte resume and is almost as annoying as Windows 8.
