Can this card potentially work on a hackintosh? Or would hackintosh users need to buy a regular a 7950 and hope that with the advent of this card that OSX supports the 7950?

I'd think that you could put it in a hack and just flip the Mac EFI/Windows switch whenever you want to switch back and forth. (That's assuming you're using native UEFI-based Windows, though. If not, keeping the switch in OS X/BIOS mode would suffice.)

Perhaps this could be the first recent high-end AMD card that this site adds to the list of basically hassle-free CustoMac video card recommendations...

Flip a switch? What Switch? No Apple GFX cards have a switch, they use a hybrid EFI/vBIOS so no need for a switch.
Also even if for some strange reason it did, why would you ever set it to Apple EFI mode in a PC, Apple EFI is not compatible with UEFI.

Um...

For those PC users that simply like the look of the new HD 7590 Mac Edition, Sapphire decided to include a dual BIOS switch that switches between non-UEFI MAC OS X/Windows BIOS and UEFI hybrid BIOS for Windows.
I'm pretty sure the newegg video mentions a switch, too (although I don't think they show it).

So using Apple EFI through Chimera is not an option? Sure you wouldn't see the motherboard's BIOS screen, but if the motherboard isn't in UEFI only mode (which it can't be for Chimera to work right, anyways) wouldn't Chimera be able to pick up the card? Or would the card not get initialized at all, period?

I only use Apple GFX cards in my hacks and I did say Apple uses a Hybrid Apple EFI/vBIOS. So ignoring the UEFI mode of that card, set it to the Apple EFI/vBIOS mode and all is fine. I definitely see the BIOS and chimera on all my Apple cards, in a PC it uses the vBIOS not the Apple EFI part.

You will still need to set the AtiConfig and AtiPorts bootflags for these cards however, all my Apple cards I need to.

Ah ok. So the switch is really just for people who use native UEFI booting for Windows (or just Windows by itself, as the article states). Only people who are multi-booting UEFI-based Windows and OS X will need to flip the switch.

Since I have to deal with multi-booting UEFI-based Windows and OS X, I was thinking along those lines when I first posted about the switch. Sorry for the confusion! I edited my post above to be more clear about that.
