How to change your custom BIOS logo (4530s)

Requirements:

• Access to a Windows machine (either bare metal or virtual), version XP or up
• USB stick
• Image file to be used as custom logo that will be shown at booting your probook (make your own, find one with Google or you can use mine (which has been updated))
• HP Ereplogo Utility (get it here)
• Rufus (get it here)

According to HP documentation the image should be: no smaller than 424 x 320 pixels and not larger than 1024 x 768 pixels.
The maximum filesize is 32k. And filetype is JPG.
Note that our screens are widescreen so your image should be corrected:

.. for best results the logo should be made as 1366x768 picture (in a photo editor of choice) and then resized (without maintaining the aspect ratio) to 1024x768

In Photoshop you can save for the web and assign the maximum filesize of 32k.

Next steps:
1. Run Rufus on your Windows computer.

Use the defaults except select a DOS image for "Create bootable disk using:"
Select your USB stick and go for it.

2. Extract EREPLOGO.EXE from the HP's Softpaq sp58176 and put it on the USB stick.
3. Copy your logo to the USB stick too.
4. Boot your 4530s (and perhaps any other hp probook) with the USB stick inserted.
5. Press F10 to enter BIOS, click System Configuration, click Boot Options, check the Custom Logo box. Click Exit and save changes.
6. Press F9 at the BIOS prompt and select your USB stick as boot device. DOS should now be booting.
7. At the DOS prompt type: ereplogo /f:logo.jpg

Where logo.jpg should be replaced with the actual filename that you used.

7a. Ignore the error message, if you receive it, about HP_Tools partition.
8. Remove the USB stick, reboot and enjoy the view of YOUR logo.

Hm, that reminds me of the BIOS of my old Eee PC 901. I think for best results the logo should be made as 1366x768 picture (in a photo editor of choice) and then resized (without maintaining the aspect ratio) to 1024x768, at least that worked with Eee PC 901 (1024x600 image, resized without maintaining the aspect ratio to 640x480 grayscale bmp image). Is there any additional requirement for the image (like color depth)?

Really nice philip_petev! Quick question: Which one will you include in the next probook installer version? the standard one (just the apple logo) or this one (apple and hp mixed logos)? I hope the standard one to have something closer to a real mac. Someone know how to fix the rotating circle too?

No, you don't get it: this operation is performed outside the OS and requires pure DOS to be accomplished. It cannot be made inside running OS X and that's why it cannot be included in the Installer.

Yep it's separate from the boot process:
1st there's the bios logo, then there's the chimera's or other bootloader's theme that shows the apple logo.
However, you can use Apple's standard logo as custom logo for the BIOS.

I used this one and added the HP logo to it. Just make sure you resize the canvas to a width of 1366px and then resize the image width to 1024.
Adding a rotating circle wouldn't be possible as it's just one JPG.

I haven't tried loading an animated GIF with just the file extension changed to JPG. It could work, but you could also brick your lappie
Anyone knows if the Probook has a no crash bios just like ASUS has?
