Hmmm....It is not booting except in safe mode and it seems in safe mode I can't run multibeast or my network. Verbose mode shows messages about not enough current for USB 3.0, no CPU identification, etc. I am using the builtin graphics and have copied your bios settings. I copied almost all of your Multibeast settings except for eSata 3rd party. Kind of puzzled. I have a single sata 500 GB drive and 8 gb of ram on two 4gb sticks. Nothing too fancy. Last thing I see in verbose mode is "macx_swapon SUCCESS." [This is my 3rd edit:] Looking around I see that somebody said disable VT-d in bios to resolve this, and it did. I booted but I don't have Ethernet anymore. Well this is a start. How do I undo hnak's AppleIntel selection in Multibeast? It was working before I selected that, now I've got nada.

I was in exactly the same position last night with my install. It seems as though there are some extra steps in setting up our board that no one has covered as of yet. ;) Anyways... When I would first finish the install Everything was great but then once I installed multibeast and restarted everything went to hell. Ethernet was working before the multibeast install but after it wasn't. So I thought what the hell and reinstalled the hnak's Intel and it worked lol. So it seems at least for me It had to be installed twice. Wierd.

Another huge issue for me was that after all of that it started to freeze on me about 30 seconds after login. I was dumbfounded because I had followed every step perfectly. Turns out you have to install the NullCPUPowerManagement. Which worked like a charm for me. So after all is said and done everything is working great. Sleep works, stress tested and bench markes all good. I will write up a post once I can recreate the results. Good luck.

Yeah, it's weird. I'm still not sure what the cause was. I reinstalled for the millionth time, but this time I used the older multibeast instead of the latest version and when I rebooted, I still had networking and I had audio. There was soemthing wrong though with the boot, I forget what exactly, so then I ran the latest multibeast and checked just one thing. Now it boots and I still have sound, networking and so on. Sorry I am not more specific, but these things happened in the middle of a lot of other stuff going on with an actual Mac Mini. Sad sad story, but installed PureFTPd on as final step to tweaking and it wiped out my user accounts, created its own and locked me out.

Take a look at my Thunderball build description; I started out with HD4000 and got it working great. Hopefully, this can get you started so you can install your graphics card, if you desire.

Hey, I was thinking of going about this a radically different way. At this point my Z77X-UP5-TH boots, has sound and network. Despite following instructions carefully, I've not gotten to where I'd like to be. My spotlight doesn't work, DVDs don't play with VLC or after doing the mod for the framework file, I don't know if I have USB 3.0 performance, it doesn't sleep, etc, etc. So....I was wondering would it make sense to just put Win 7 premium 64bit on here, and run 10.8.2 in a virtual machine? I was going to run Windows in a virtual machine under OS X, but I'm thinking I might get most of the normal performance and behavior I want just by going virtual. I can use the normal bluetooth and wifi on the windows side (pretty sure the wifi at least will translate to the VM).I can use the windows side for Thunderbolt, USB 3.0, etc. I figure I'll get another 8 gig of ram and allocate that to the vm.

What is the make and model # of your optical drive? Apple only supports Sony or Pioneer in their Desktop models; in the past, optical drives have cause installation and sleep problems. The tonymacx86 Buyers Guides have recommended Sony or LG optical drives.

We do not support that method - see the tonymacx86 Rules for more information.

I just ordered both an LG optical drive and a 500 gb hard drive so that I can swap between getting this going as a mac and doing windows 7 with or without boot manager.
I just looked at the rules and the Procedure That Shall Not Be Mentioned (PTSNBM) in the 2nd rule even applies to my licensed and purchased copy of the OS? I haven't read through completely how that PTSNBM gets installed, so maybe it does violate the rule. I assumed it was hack-free. In any case, it's so close to instant forum death that the PTSNBM shall not be mentioned by me again without moderator guidance.

As mentioned in my build post at the beginning of this thread, I already owned a Liteon iHBS212 12x Internal Blu-Ray Disc Drive (read/write) prior to building my Hackintosh. I used it previously in a USB external optical drive enclosure with my iMac, and it worked perfectly. I slotted it straight into my Hackintosh and again it works perfectly "out-of-the-box" (running firmware revision HL04):

-Plays Blu-Ray discs using Macgo Bluray Player
-I ripped a 23.3GB Blu-ray disc in 18 mins using Toast 11 Titanium
-I burned the resulting disc image to a Blu-ray disc in 12 mins using Toast 11 Titanium

I note Stork mentions that "non-supported" models can cause sleep issues. Manual sleep/wake works for me, only auto sleep doesn't, but I don't think that's related to my optical drive as I believe it's a common/known issue.

Hi folks! I'd like to share a strange random issue I'm experiencing...Three days ago I built a new rig with this mobo and installed Multibeast following the instructions written here. In general the system seems to work but sometimes it randomly boots erroneously becoming slower during the boot and getting to the desktop with everything working except for usb (keybord and mouse don't work and consequently the cursor is blocked)...This only occurs at some occasion but I'm not still getting some kind of pattern in order to fix it...Actually on one occasion I booted in v-mode and I read something about no enough current to the IOUSB family. It' s strande because in general my rig seems to work except for thi sstrange random behavior...I'm very puzzled. Thanks in advance for any suggestion or hint.

I can't say I've experienced that problem, but one thing I can suggest is to try moving your USB devices to different ports. Try a few different configurations in terms of what is plugged in where. Or even try unplugging certain USB devices and see if that fixes the problem. May require a bit of trial and error.

I'm having a minor but annoying problem with my Hackintosh. I finally received my minidisplayport to displayport adapter and have connected one of my 24" cinema displays to the GTX 670 (the secondary display is connected to the HD4000 via MDP). When the monitors go to sleep, the one connected to the GTX 670 re-wakes after about one second and stays awake. I've done a Google search and found one other case of this, and they put it down to the nVidia drivers in Mountain Lion 10.8.2.

Any one else have this issue and possibly a solution? I leave my Hackintosh on 24/7 so I'd like to resolve it.

Cheers
