Hello everybody!
For 10 years I have been a happy mac book pro owner but now I decided to try building my own hackintosh, searching for something high quality and not so expensive (around 1200-1600€)!

My idea is to build a computer for video and photo editing, quite fast with a very good video card. Of course is really important to have an high compatibility with osx, to avoid problem in the future with the update.
I've read a lot of possible configuration but I'm sure that you can help me to decide which is the best option for me! :D

My configuration is:
- motherboard Asus P8Z68 Deluxe/Gen3 or Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD5H
- 16 gb ram (or 32?)
- processor intel i7 3770 or i5 3570
- graphic card GeForce GTX 660 Ti or GeForce GTX 670
- hard disk 2x2tb ws caviar blue (and maybe an ssd?)
- firewire 400/800
- card reader sd/cf

missed something?

thank you!

Have you looked at the Video editing builds in the User Builds forum, especially the Golden Builds?

might be just what you are looking for.

If you're going to go with the 3770 (or any ivy bridge) make sure you get one of the z77 boards (the Gigabyte you have listed above is very nice, I'd also recommend the ASUS P8Z77-V Pro). The Z68 was designed more for Sandy Bridge than Ivy Bridge. Not only will you possibly need a bios update to even get the z68 to work (so if you don't have a sandy bridge processor laying around to do the update you could be SOL) but the z68 won't support all the features of Ivy Bridge either.

thank you!

I think i'm going to buy this configuration: ...
will be stable?

Looks fine to me except the PSU. 550W would do. The 750 is overkill unless you plan to add another gfx card.

I was thinking the same but I took the same PSU that you linked me before!
If I plan to use this hackintosh for video editing and photo is better to buy more ram, two standard graphic card or just one really good graphic card? I know it's a kind of stupid question but I don't know what i should choose!

Maybe the 750W was on sale and a better deal when Slugnet bought it, or maybe he planned a second gfx card.

As for more RAM vs gfx card, which does your apps use the most? Let that be your guide. Personally, I would say just one really good one and maybe get a second to match later.

I'll mostly use premiere, after effects and photoshop.

Anyway thanks a lot for your help, really!
In this days i'll buy everything and make the first tests

In my last configuration i took the gigabyte geforce gtx 660 4gb for my hackintosh...but will better take the 680 2gb for installation issue?
I've read in this forum that is possible to install the 680 2gb with multibeast, but if i took the 4gb version this will be more difficult.
For you which is better for me? (my hackintosh skill level are not so good :D)
