Getting 650ti working

Ok, but I'm not very good at writing guides, so hopefully you can follow along. You will only need this until 10.8.3 comes out, the drivers should be included then. First, you will need the 2 programs i attached and the NVidia Drivers, found here:

http://www.nvidia.com/object/macosx-304.00.05f02-driver.html

Install the 2 programs.

Right click on the NVidia Drivers .dmg, open with Pacifist
In Pacifist, click on "Contents of webDriverPayload_jLhsf.pkg" then click "Extract to" I put mine in a folder called NVidia on my desktop.
Run "ShowAllFiles" click Show.
Open the Unibeast USB in finder. You should see more files and folders now.
Open the folder System, then Library, then Extensions. You will need to delete the NVidia drivers in this folder, delete the following: NVDAGF100Hal.kext, NVDAGK100Hal.kext, NVDANV50Hal.kext, NVDAResman.kext
Open your folder with the new NVidia .kexts in it, copy them to the S/L/E folder. Now make sure you can see the Extensions folder, it will make the next step easier.
Open Terminal, type "sudo-s" enter
enter your password
type "sudo chmod -R 755" press the space bar once, to leave a space after 755, now, drag the "Extensions folder" onto Terminal, it should type the path for you. press enter.
type "sudo chown -R root:wheel" press the space bar once, to leave a space after wheel, now, drag the "Extensions folder" onto Terminal, it should type the path for you. press enter.
type "sudo touch" press the space bar once, to leave a space after touch, now, drag the "Extensions folder" onto Terminal, it should type the path for you. press enter.
type "exit"
type "exit"
close terminal
Open "ShowAllFiles" click Hide.

Now boot with your Unibeast install with the New NVidia drivers. Remember to boot with "GraphicsEnabler=No" and to install the NVidia drivers after you run Multibeast. Just use the NVidia installer. Reboot your computer, and you should be good to go!!!

Bimmer,
Am I correct in understanding that 10.8.3 will support the GTX 650Ti ??
I just picked one up brand new for $50 and want to install it in my Customac mini Deluxe build.
If I can wait to update to 10.8.3, then just install the 650Ti, that would save me from having to clean install OSX, right?

We are hopeful that 10.8.3 will support it. You can still install it now, just download the NVidia drivers and install them. Shutdown, install 650Ti, Disable integrated-graphics in BIOS, boot up with GraphicsEnabler=No.

First, thanks for lending a hand here!

I downloaded the Retail Drivers and Cuda Drivers from the link you provided earlier in the thread. I opened the .dmg file then ran the install package. When I went to install the Retail Drivers I received a notification that "This computer will not support GeForce or Quadro Mac OS X edition cards." then the installer shuts down. Is there something I'm doing wrong?

Edit: I am running with iMac 27 definitions (seemed to have less troubles)
Could this be causing the CANNOT INSTALL issue? Should I/ Can I just reinstall Mac Pro definitions?

Yea, you need to use a MacPro3,1 SMBIOS, then change it back to iMac if you want.

Will do. Just tried with MP 5,1 and it screwed everything up. Restoring from image now and will try again. Thanks!

If you use MacPro4,1or MacPro5,1 you need to delete AppleTyMCEDriver.kext, then you can use it. I'm using MacPro5,1.

I confirm that the 650Ti works with CUDA drivers and Nvidia drivers, using the MacPro3,1 config…
However I often get such errors:
"
02/12/12 19:52:42,000 kernel[0]: NVDA(OpenGL): Channel exception! exception type = 0xd = GR: SW Notify Error
02/12/12 19:52:42,000 kernel[0]: 0000006e

System freezes and locks up (I only can move the mouse, strangely), and the only thing I can do is force to restart… (I've started a thread there : http://www.tonymacx86.com/graphics/81233-nvda-opengl-channel-exception-error.html#post503397 but nobody answered yet… :|)

Is there anyone who can help me with that ? Many thanks in advance !

I have seen this in other threads, but have not seen a fix. I have not experienced the problem. From what I read, it seems to happen browsing the Web and Youtube, I think. I don't know what to tell you.

Yes, I have this issue mainly when using Safari (and looks like I do not get it when using Firefox…)
Can it be related to the config I use (MacPro3,1) ?
